For the past couple of days,I’ve noticed burnt tips with a yellow vein and yellowing on the outer of the leaves. This is just happening on the top that I can tell.
My first thought was a potassium deficiency so I checked my runoff which was at 5.9, I ph at 6.2.
So I checked the ppm of the runoff and was blown away at 2300.
I feed with it being around 1200 and 1300.
My question is should I do a complete flush or just a light flush? I’ve included some pics but they dont really show the yellowing on the outer part of the leaves.
I don’t really see an issue?? The burnt tips are normal and most likely from a little too much nitrogen in the seedling or early veg. Coco or soil? The PH is in the range for coco. Those run off numbers are high. What’s your nutrient PPMs going in?
Premix a coco medium, I’ve never grown in that brand? At 1300 going in and 2300 coming out leads me to think you have a salt and mineral build up in the root zone locking out nutrient uptake. As healthy as she looks personally I wouldn’t flush just yet. I would reduce my nutrient solution to 1/2 and makes sure you’re feeding to run off to wash that build up away. Daily health checks after that for a week or so. Crucial to feed/water to run off everytime
Yeah that scale is critical. I’ve had run off numbers above 3000 when I was using fox farm nutrients. Switched up to jacks 321, simple a no issues. I had the cheapy Amazon PH and TDS pens when I 1st started and realized how critical the PH and PPMS were and invested in an Apera PH pen and Blue lab TDS.
Im also using a Apera ph pen,love that thing. I started out with fox farm on my last 2 grows but quickly changed to GH Maxi series. Not a fan of ff at all
Thanks,I’ll give that a try to see how she starts looking. Really hate to do a flush since shes all tied up in that net. No way getting her out.
If i do have to flush,I’ll have to get my shop vac cuz im not using this turkey baster that I use for runoff lmao.
I just got done flushing with 3 gal of 6.5 tap water and the numbers of the runoff were 6.1 ph and 862ppm. Hopefully that fixes everything. Should i top off with a feeding or give her time to dry? I also wanted to thank you and @OGIncognito for advice. Very much appreciated!
I would be careful with using that high a PH in pro mix. Pro mix is 100% peat with dolomite lime for PH buffering. It is considered a soilless medium and therefore treated as hydro for ph purposes.

…This pH fluctuation can cause the nutrients to become unavailable or excessive for plant uptake. The optimum soilless medium pH for nutrient uptake is between 5.5 and 6.0.
I use coco with perlite and Jack’s 321. Going in I ph to 5.8 - 5.9. PPM will typically be 1000 to 1100. When top feeding I make sure to get good amount of runoff. However, even doing this the runoff PPM will increase over time. PPM can push as high as 2100. When this happens I drop the feed ppm to 600 - 800 for a couple of times. The PPM will drop closer to normal and I return to the higher feed ppm. If you flush nutrients out of the medium you do need to feed the plants soon other wise they will starve.
