So I got 4x4 Mars Hydro tent all set up and ready to go. Just received my Super. Auto flower mix in mail and ready to soak the seeds. How many plants can I grow? I was thinking 6 but I don’t know. They are 5 gallon cloth bags. Once the seeds soak and pop a tail, I have some starter soil, should they be started in smaller cups? Thanks for any advice.
If you grow healthy plants 4 square feet per plant should be considered a minimum. 4 healthy plants in a 4x4 would be a maximum.
2 plants in a 2x4 and even then it’s crowded.
Hello @realrobthomas welcome to the neighborhood. I have a 4x4 I currently have a grow that started 9 5 gallon fabric plants and 1 was male so now a month into flower I have 8 of them in there they definitely fill the tent. Most are growing 4-6 plants in a 4x4
I would go with 4, I have one in my 2x4 tent and its taking up more than half the space
6 is pretty safe for autos someone around here is growing 8 in his 2x4 and I comfortably fit 4 in my 2.75 x3.5 , you can at most probably do 8 realistically ( any more and itll be a hassle getting in and watering them)
I’d like to agree with you @GreenSnek. I was thinking about 6 as well with some lightish management. Could breeze by with 4 autos no problem also.
Thanks everyone for replies, it’s amazing all the info out here. I have the 3 varieties so I was hoping to do 2 of each. I know a lot about growing grass that goes in your yard but nothing about this grass.
Are those autos?
No all photos and all are 8 top manifolds around 3 feet tall 4 feet from ground. I purposely put the shorter ones in the middle were the light has a higher ppfd so I can run my light lower and higher power without burning the tall girls I put in the corners. Here’s a couple pics from a couple days ago I had em out for feeding
6 would be a good number to start with i think. So you can take your time to keep your canopy as flat as you can. Try different techniques on a couple of em so you can watch how the plants react to what you just did to her. Learning to water your plants is the most important thing that you should focus on as a new grower. I say water this includes ph balance and feeding this all happens in your water
You certainly could, but starting them in their forever homes with domes until they get large enough wouldn’t hurt either.
Welcome to the community!
Sounds like they got ya heading in the right direction. Welcome to the forum!
Welcome!.. I loved the collaboration with Santana… LoL!..
… I’m pretty new here as well, so no real advice other than “listen to these guys” because you’ll garner some great info!
I definitely WOULD NOT crowd the tent too much… I started with a small 2x2 that I could store if necessary. I tried 3 autos at once and it was really crowded, and went sideways pretty quickly…
(My lesson was learned: I’ll be getting a larger tent and better light in the near future)… Looks like you’re starting out the right way!
There’s tons of great info in the various threads on the forum that can probably answer any questions you have… Cheers!..
Yeah I hear a lot of matchbox 20 or whatever his band was called references. People always remember my name.
I briefly considered a 2x4, but knew I would regret it if I didn’t get the bigger one.
Seeds been in water for almost 24 hours now. Thanks everyone for your help.
slick as hell man
So I’ve had 6 seeds soaking like the instructions said and only 2 of 6 seeds have little tails on them. Do I just plant the ones that have started or go ahead and plant them all. It’s been 3 and a half days
If the tails are roughly 3/4” long on the ones that have had the taproot show… Once the others that are still soaking pop, I’d plant them. It might make it a little more challenging to keep track of how far apart they are, but take good notes and they should be fine at separate times! GOOD LUCK, first timer here as well! Hope they turn out amazing and can’t wait to see the progress!
I started two of mine in straight soil, FFOF ( I know it’s against the grain to go straight to that) and soaked the other two in water and watched for them to pop, then planted straight into 5 gallon pots. Fingers crossed, but nothing bad from the FFOF as of yet, and halfway through week 3… the two that I let soak seem to be doing better than the two I just put in soil and watered to germinate.
