Hi guys, i live in a colder part of Oz, and am trying my first grow in a grow tent in the shed.
Our night time temps are still down to 6 - 8°C quite often. I am thinking that this is probably affecting the growth or lack of it.
I have a 130w CFL that doesn’t produce much heat.
I am wondering if anyone has the same sort of problem and how you overcome it?
Would heating the grow tent help?
Outside of adding a heat source I would insulate the shed to help it keep in whatever heat your lights give off. Unfortunately you need airflow and if the outside air is your only source of air then lights that burn hotter may be required to go along with the insulation.
Insulting would be prudent and adding a heat source would be a good idea along with more powerful lights for flowering you want around 50-80 watts per square foot for flowering to get the dense buds we all like
So maybe adding a lec or hps/mh set up would be a good idea
Here’s a guide to help you understand why controling temps are important

Well I keep trying for link but the name of thread is the start of something wonderful (shed build)
Good share @Smokin_ernie
Thanks trying to link the right one.
Yeah I know you did some good work on yours so get that link posted lol
this the one @Smokin_ernie
Sweet you the man! That is the one.
Sometimes I have to open a second window before i can copy and past or it will paste the last thing I had copied and pasted ?
Glad I could assist
Thanks I try to remember that because that is what was happening kept link last copied.
Thanks for the advice guys…will sit down tonight and read up:)
I grow in the attic. The way I control temps is to run lights at night and to draw air from the house. I also have a small space heater if it gets below freezing. I only grow indicas because the grow shorter and don’t mind cooler temps.
The usual problem is not enough light. 130 watts of cfl is only enough for 1/4 of a square meter. It’s VERY difficult to pack together enough CFLs to get enough light. Once you DO have enough light, a little insulation should keep it quite toasty all winter long. Most growers have to exhaust some heat from their grow chamber.
I grow with about 900 watts of LED COBs and I heat the whole house with the waste heat.
