First grow, Heat issues

Hi guys! First time grower here and I’m struggling with controlling the heat in my tent. Any advice would be very appreciated. I’m growing in a Coolgrows 3x3x6 tent
Maxsisun 1000w full spectrum light
Vivosun 6 inch 440 CFM fan as the exhaust
2 Vivosun 4 inch fans as inlet fans. 1 is a 190 the other is 195. All 3 fans are running carbon filters.
I have 1 oscillating fan and 1 small clip on fan.
My temp is going from 77ish to 80 with lights on with 45-50 humidity.
Not sure if it’s my light putting off too much heat or what. I have the inside air pumping out into my closet with my furnace so the air is being sucked out but my room is noticeably warmer than the rest of the house so could also be an issue. I have to keep my tent where it is so unable to relocate to another room or vent out of a window. I do have a cool mist humidifier on the way to help regulate humidity but not sure if that will lower temps too. I am looking for advise on a good light for a 3x3 that’ll help with the heat hopefully or any other tricks. Sorry for the long letter. Trying to get it set up right the first time. Thanks!
Jimi

@EYE69MYSELF Welcome to the community. The temps don’t seem to high the humidity could come up. The cool mist humidifier will help with humidity. What are your temps like in the room the tent is in. what do you guys think @Zee @kellydans @Oldguy

I agree. Temps aren’t bad for seedlings.
At that age the op could remove the exhaust filter Thereby extending the life of said filter.
Plants are way too small to need it yet.
The carbon filters on the inlets is restricting air flow too. A simple hepa filter would suffice to keep incoming air clean and Flow better too.
I’m also curious about the room temps.

Not positive on the room temp but is noticeably warmer than the rest if the house which sits at 76 so room might be around what the tent is. I’ll try removing the filters. Just set everything up and been trying to regulate the temp now before I need the lower temps later. I’ve read some on the Mars Hydro lights running much cooler and was thinking about one of those. Thank you for the quick responses!

@EYE69MYSELF. Something like this should fit your tent well if you want to go with Mars. .

Thank you! Not dead set on Mars, just most recent lights I’ve researched. Open to any suggestions on lighting. Hoping a better light will have less heat output. With my room being noticeably warmer after setting the tent up I think the light heat is just being recirculated. The next few weeks will be getting cooler outside so I can open a window to help then but it’s hot and muggy in Missouri still.

Temps are fine. I run 84 at lights on using old school 600w HPS.

As far as ventilation out, I see your exhaust is right next to a window, I’d buy a kit and push that air out. It will greatly reduce the heat in your lung room.

like @Zee said And @Oldguy. if your exhausting back in to the room you are raising your temps. Try and control the temps in the room to control your tent IMO

I agree with community members I think if you can figure out how to flex and exhaust outside will be a big help especially when it starts flowering even with a filter you could possibly still have a little bit of odor. Dryer vent possibly could be an outlet for you.

Could you exhaust thru the window and draw from the house ?
That would help a lot to reduce the temps.

If you exhaust out of your house then your central air is gonna run constantly because your creating negative pressure inside the house. Take those filters off the intake fans as well. That’s kind of a waste. The temps you have is perfect under LED lighting. Traditionally guys with hooded fixtures would have to run low 70 ambient temps to keep a good leaf surface temperature. Under LED, the plants dont feel the heat like they would under an HPS or CMH light. You want your temps around 80 to 85 under the LEDs but you gotta have the humidity as well. Try to stay in a good VPD range using this chart.

If you walk into your room or tent and it instantly feels like the rainforest…your doing it right lol but make sure to have plenty of circulation with an oscillating fan whenever the plant gets a couple weeks old.

Venting out of the room is an issue. I live in a condo so venting it out of the window won’t work, they dont like stuff installed in windows. I have it exhausting into the closet with my furnace so it vents the hot air but that only helps when it’s running. I will remove the filters tonight to help with the airflow. Didn’t even think about not needing them right now. Would these temps be ok thru vegging and flowering? Just waiting on my humidifier to show up and I’ll be able to up the humidity and regulate it. If these temps are an issue during flowering any suggestions or setups on regulating it when I get that far?

Your temperature is fine, I have Growed weed between 72 and 85 with no problems. Everybody’s temps are going to vary a little depending on the area you’re in an the time of the year. Winter grow usually runs few degrees cooler for me than summer grow. Good luck

I’m in agreement with all the above, sikkid’s spot on with removing the carbon filter, it will drag on your exhaust, don’t need it till flower.
Lot’s of good info, just don’t get lost trying to follow everyone’s advice.

Good vibes and good luck :v:

Haha. The gas mask is on my 100 year old stuffed dog I got working at an antique auction like 20 years ago.

I listened to everyone here and got the heat and humidity under control finally. I got a Mars TSW 2000 and took my filters off for now. The humidifier helped and I rand my vent out into a ceiling vent. I have 25 feet of 6 inch ducting across my room now though. StartedGot everything to run it out of my window now though, just have to do it ona free day. I’m onto a whole other set of issues with over watering I think but looks pretty bad today. I’ve learned so much already just from the couple posts I made for help and just reading around. So glad I looked in here for help!

Over-watering is a cardinal sin,
I learned my lesson after mass murdering seedlings :man_facepalming:
