Harvest tool care

Hi everyone, I’m johnno and I’ve been reading these forums for a couple of weeks. I don’t usually get involved, but I enjoy reading about the grows and the issues that people have with there grow. I’ve learned a lot about indoor growing and think I’ve found a productive hobby

The one subject I haven’t been able to track down is proper tool maintenance and I as wondering if anyone can tell me how they clean the sticky goodness from the chainsaw teeth after trimming up there buds for storage.

Nah but does anyone have any ideas or clues if there’s a shortcut to getting all that goodness of the tools and my fingers in order to get it into my system, please any advice out there would be welcomed :blush::blush:

Scraping with a razor blade is pretty effective. If you don’t care about the scissor hash, rubbing alcohol will clean them right off

Welcome to the community. Most of the growers use rubber gloves for your hands and use rubbing alcohol to clean your cutting tools  :bat:

I go thru a couple of these every harvest, much quicker and better cleaning than just alcohol and paper towels. They get pretty nasty though after processing a couple pounds so I just throw them out and buy a couple new ones for every harvest.

When I sit down to trim I have four identical sets of scissors. A bowl of alcohol as they get sticky I toss them in the bowl, I stop an clean all four sets at one time an start again. Also you will need a good cold beer to make things a little easier. Welcome to the community good luck!

Thanks guys, for the welcome and the replies

all sounds excellent I really never thought about the cleaning tool from Amazon. (hahahaha well you just wouldn’t have thought gotta love mr bezos, “ if there’s a need “) I spose

the rubber gloves hadn’t even thought about it, I’ve just always sucked my fingers, I bet it’s fun trying to get the hash off the gloves and into your body though, I’ll let you know how I go with it :joy:

thanks for the rubbing alcohol clue I had actually thought about that but I didn’t want to waste all that yummy stuff? have you tried smoking it after the alcohol has evaporated off :flushed:

I have been using a razor blade up till this point but sticky is sticky and very sweet smelling kinda makes ya want a couple of bowls which inevitably makes a days work take a week hahahaha

so again thanks guys I’m gonna try get some time on this forum (my first) and I’m glad I got such a rapid response I’m gonna wish you luck with your grows and I might even publish my grow diary if success happens to shine upon my little indoor 4x4

Cheers :+1:

I would not smoke anything that was sitting in rubbing alcohol. If you want to save the scissor hash, just give them a quick scrape before putting in the scissor scrubber. I don’t like to use the time it takes to scrape off the scissor hash and I have plenty of other stuff to smoke and I make hash with kief from my trim bins.

Do you have a “how to” thread on that??? I got this far.

That hash looks a lot better than my pucks!

Yeah I was never happy with the hash from the puck makers, not enough heat or pressure so it comes out like just slightly pressed kief and not the nice creamy gooey hash that it can be, like mine in the picture.

Everything I’ve learned about making great hash has come from Frenchy and the wine bottle filled with hot water.

This man knows hash, learn from him as I did and watch his other videos as well, soak up that hash making info.

Good video. Have you ever thought about the heat presses on the net??? Though I wouldn’t mind emptying the bottle, using it as shown looks like a lot of work.

I have looked at the dab/wax presses but not really my thing and don’t see the need for one for hash. It takes me under 10 minutes to make hash with the wine bottle, it’s not too bad. I just put my kief on some non-stick parchment paper, fold it over and then start rolling the wine bottle back and forth over the kief, check on it every couple minutes til it’s warming up and sticking together, do a couple/few more passes with the bottle and done, do longer for a darker hash.

R u doing it from the power or puck? Can it be done from a puck?

I do it with the powder. It can be done with a puck but will take a little longer with the thickness of the puck.

Any reason I cant grind the puck back to power???

Nope, no problem with that.

Looks like I have to drink a bottle of wine. What I have to put up with for this hobby

Yeah I’m not much of a wine drinker so I use a empty whiskey bottle with straight sides.
