Trimming cannabis leaves

Any recommendations on trimming scissors?

Get dollar store scissors. They get gummed up really quickly.

The residue left on scissors is really good hash. Scrape it off your scissors before throwing scissors away. You can just roll it up in a ball by rolling it between your fingers.

I was looking at those I was going to order a pair to try them and compare them to the ones I get from Walmart lol

I just use these. Have a ton of them, like this box is full of em. Switch out when gummed up, clean with isopropyl for next time.

The spring loaded ones are nice. But I don’t see how they would be better with how fast they gum up. Spring would quickly be negated. That’s why to me it’s better to have many. Once one becomes hesitant to cut, change it out.

Yep, best to have many trimmers on hand to swap out as needed.

I may have enough

And I use a scissor scrubber to quickly clean them as needed, I just stick the gummed up trimmer in it and rotate to next clean trimmer.

There are other reasons I also don’t like the spring ones. But that goes back to me being a tool maker and doesn’t resonate with most. My scissors cut better than any pruning sheers I’ve used. Especially when it comes to such small cuts. But that’s industry. Make shit look cool and seem easier. But don’t make it so good they don’t need more. My scissors where passed down to me. They are older than me.

Heirloom scissors, awesome! Love old tools that have been passed down to me.

I’m sure there are much better tools for the job of trimming than the cheap springy ones that are normally marketed for that job. Someday I’ll walk into a barber/beauty supply place and check out the different hair trimming scissors, some of those would make for some fine bud trimmers.

Exactly. These were originally for toenails.

I use a pair of OXO kitchen shears for damn near everything.

@Budz Fellow toolmaker here! :+1:

Actually started my toolroom experience long ago as an apprentice in the die shop working on forging dies and progressive stamping dies of a lawn and garden tool manufacturer.
