Growing Without Carbon Filter

My 3 babies are starting to stink a bit. Buying a grow tent tomorrow, and I’ve read that a carbon filter is still a necessity, I just assumed the grow tent would keep the smell inside.

I am buying the DiamondBox Silver Line SL60 (60x60x160), but I am unsure if I need a carbon filter, and if yes, how I install it. Will I need a fan as well?

Right now, my plants are just below a window, kept at 20 - 25 degrees Celcius, and I open the window when the smell gets too extreme. However, with a tent, there’s no space for it near a window. Do I need to be near a window?

Sorry that these questions are all over the place.

There’s a lot going on here. You will need a fan for the filter to work. Do you have a light you’re using currently or just sun through the window? Do you have any pictures? Or any more info you can give to help us give you the best advice?

Oh, thank you!

I have bought a nice little light, which should be enough for just 3 plants. I was guided by professionals, luckily

I’ve attached a picture.

So the carbon filter is a paired item with an exhaust fan. The fan itself will be what gives you air exchange and some environmental control to lower heat and humidity.

What did you get for lighting?

The more details of your grow the better

So it’s not necessary for it to be near a window, as long as I’ve just got a fan and a good carbon filter?

I’ll upload 2 pictures of the light, sorry.

Nice choose on the light :+1::wink::green_heart::christmas_tree:

@beachglass thanks you :metal::green_heart::christmas_tree:

You won’t be over powered with that light, and 3 plants in a tent that size is generally not advised. I’ve done it… and I’d do it again!

You are correct, being near the window won’t matter unless you’re trying to vent outside. Decent little 4" inline and you’ll be off running. Nice so far

Jump in. Full Meal deal provides necessary or advised components all in one.
Some advantages may be available. Good Luck. I am using Vivosun products for 48x48x80.
My Apollo is 48x48x78. I have yet to figure how to connect the 6in intake with the filter for both tents and evacuate the cave. Every new piece of equipment necessitates spending more.

Just a few.

There is no way you can get away from the dank smell as the girls mature. I have mine piped to the basement.

Yeah, I know it isn’t the strongest light, but I had to go for something that wouldn’t pump up the electricity prices and have too high of a price

Stupid question:
Do I need anything but a carbon filter and a fan? How about those long silver tubes (sorry, I don’t know the name of them) you mount on the holes?

Flexible dryer hose? That is what i vented to basement

Ya lost me.

Do you have pH and TDS meters? pH adjustment solutions?

If @beachglass is correct yes. You’ll need venting. They’re are multiple ways to set it up. I always recommend externally if possible (You have to make sure the carbon filter is rated for push) because it’ll save you head room in the tent
