I always wondered what the spiky pots were lol…now I know! For the longest time I’m like they look like something from medieval times lol
Do you have to replace fabric bags. I do with these you use over and over. They are easily to get the used soil and root ball out. They do everything a fabric bag does plus. Biggest plus for me is one time purchase. I still have the original set I bought 3 or 4 years ago and they still look new. The only thing is initial start up cost more. The price over time is cheaper though.
Another thing is they don’t start sagging and get misshaped.
I don’t think they would work on a self watering base though.
I personally reuse my fabric bags… and still have a few unused ones
I reuse my fabric bag, but I pulled rootball and remaining stem and give it to the chickens to munch on (they love it). Then I wash the bag and start with fresh soil. The cost of a new bag of Mother Earth Groundswell is worth it to me for the peace of mind. I am definitely intrigued by the air pots though!
Mine get covered in salts from the nutrients. I wash them with a preasure washer to get it off. That makes them weak and out of shape and harder to water.
The older I get the easier I need things to be. With fabric I have to get down roll the bag and fight the dirt clump out. Not to much but it does take a little bit. With the air pot I take out 2 plastic screws unwrap take out dirt clump. Wrap back around base put back in screws or stack flat till needed.
Takes half the effort and half the time.
I dont think i have ever washed mine
After i cut the stalk i just turn it over and shake til everything comes out. But i definitely see how the air pots can be easier to manage
What nutrients do you use. I get salt build up on the outside of mine that won’t shake off then I have to wash. If I don’t it seems to affect the next grow.
Jacks 321 i have a bit of build up on a couple bags but i dont recall it being much. Ill have 2 check when i get home ill grab some pics. Got 7 plants going rn
Ok jacks according to what is said should not leave a salt build up.
