Just curious to see if anyone here has ever used fabric pots? If so, what are the pros and cons? Thanks peeps!
Most seasoned indoor growers on the forum are users of fabric pots. No real downside to using them other than more liquid use throughout the grow. Increased airflow to the medium means more O to the roots.
Reusable too.
Fabric pots for the win! More ventilation, helps with the drought to flood cycle, and reusable. Some even have grommets to tie to.
They’re awesome. Lightweight, foldable, easy to move, dries pretty quick, cheap, much better than other pot types.
First time user an so far I love mine. Is a lot easier to tell when to give more water
Fabric pots!
Ive been using them. They are great. Not to mention you can use the wicking water bases from ac infinity. Great if you need to leave town for a few days and cant water your plants.
I use both fabric pots and 5 gallon pails with a couple hundred holes in the lower sides and bottom. I haven’t been able to tell a huge difference in the two. I wouldn’t try the pails without all the holes added, not a worry with cloth, roots self prune and good oxygen transfer to the roots.
Con is they look unsightly after a grow. When washed they weaken and don’t hold shape. Cheap at first but when get in poor shape they can be expensive. Have to water slowly or will just run out of the sides.
Pro’s cheap start up. Good airflow to roots. Easy to store. Stops root binding.
Pro’s for air pots.
All the benefits of fabric with more Long jevity.
Easily washable. Don’t loose shape. Good air to roots. Easy to store. Take out fasteners unwrap dirt ball easy. About the same price as good fabric pots but one time purchase unless your trying to break them. If washed with a brush and a little dawn always look clean. Stops root binding.
Cons for air pots. Have to water slow or comes out the side of the pot.
If you live in a hot dry climate material pots dry out a lot faster than plastic pots.
The main advantage of material pots is they have better air flow to the soil so there is less chance of root rot caused by poor drainage. However, that can be compensated for by using coconut coir and perlite.
Only Con I know of is transplanting can be tough.
Just plan ahead
