Growing in homemade soil in pots outdoors

This is my first grow. I used the same soil as i do for all my other plants. If they grow in it, i dont see why Cannabis wont. Maybe not as big or as potent but it should produce some flower, right? Or am i wrong? Like i said, this is my trial run. Its practice for when i buy good seeds. Im growing with seeds from weed i was buying off the streets. I saved them all up. Am i going to get anything out of the harvest?

Yeah you will get something what is your soil and you will have to weed out the male plants. Have they already sprouted

Yes, ive got one that sprouted May 13th thats growing pretty decent and a bunch of little seedings with their 4 little leaves. Yes im prepared for spotting the males for termination. Thats why i started a bunch. Im hoping the big one is female because its almost on time with the season. These other ones that just sprouted a few days ago arent going to be able to reach their peak in time, im afraid.
So you say ill still get something huh? This is music to my ears. Im growing cat nip also and its plant syle is very similar to im pretty sure i know what to do with the Cannabis plant. Its not much different. But im all ears if theres something you can teach me that will make me a better cannabis grower

What is your pot size and need to know what kind of soil using may or may not be cannabis friendly. What is your water too these are important things

I’m sure your soil will work as long as it’s cared for properly. Cannabis will grow in a bucket of rocks if its fed enough.

I think they’re 8 gallon pots. They are huge. I made my own soil out of ⅓composted soil i made, ⅓ Miracle-Gro outdoor potting soil and ⅓ soil from a 10 year old potting, yard dirt basically. Its a mixture. I keep taking readings at different spots in the pot and they all read in the optimal zone. I have synthetic fertilizers also, that im using sparingly when it shows 5.0 on the meter. Most of it is when i make a foliar spray. Im mostly just spray feeding them for now. Just for an extra boost. I use Blackstrap molasses unsulphured sometimes also. To adjust pH i use lemon juice or baking soda. So far so good. I do have a few seedlings that seem to not be growing but, i tjink they are building roots right now. I just transplanted them 2 days ago. They should start moving soon. I hope.

This is amazing, that they can grow in a bucket of rocks. Not much different than growing Hydroponically i guess.
Ive killed more cannabis seedlings than i care to admit. This is why im so paranoid over these now. Im trying to learn this stuff.
I was over watering them and using Miracle-Gro on them! No wonder, huh?

Exactly!

It sounds like you are using a probe type meter to check your soil? If so, the inexpensive versions of these are known to be inaccurate and inconsistent. I would invest in a decent digital ph tester, something like apera or bluelab. And get something to test ppm or ec, a cheap one of these will probably do. This way you can check the ph and ppm of your waterings/fredings and compare to runoff from pot. Based on you mixing the soils it kind of hard to tell when they would need feedings otherwise.

Thanks… I’m not doing that good financially right now but a better meter is on the list.
