Indoor - Super soil

Hi All,

1st indoor Super-soil grow. I have been struggling with sweltering temps and fluctuating RH.
@shindig153 @zparkie2 @SilentHippie @Covertgrower
Hope you guys don’t mind the tags, feel free to tag anyone you think is willing to help with my journey, I think I’m going to need all the help I can get.

Day 1 - Gold Leaf
Seed in Jiffy peat pellets, Super-soil in bottom half of peat pot with premium organic potting mix on top, watering with ph neutral purified water, as recommended by the company I purchased S.S from.

Starting to get everything under control, with a lot of tweaking and dialling in, heat and humidity have been excessive with 40C + temps (sorry dont know FH, southern hemisphere) Day 2.

Need to read instruction manual and learn how to switch this to celcius?

I think I recall pressing the up and down buttons together at the same time, but this was awhile ago I read the instructions. Also never needed to change that setting. Lol.
That paper pot will cause root bound problems. So anticipate transplanting to something larger. I know the roots are supposed to grow “through” the pot. But cannabis doesn’t live long enough really for that to work.

Welcome to ILGM if you haven’t been welcomed already.

Thank you, I had my suspicions about the myth of roots growing through, already planned on transfering to 10 gallon smart pots when ready.

10 gallon smart pots.
Do you intend to keep it as a mother?
3-5 gallon will do just fine.

Edit roots will grow through it, cannabis just doesn’t have long enough grow cycle to make that journey.

I’ve only used FFOF soil. If I can help, I will. Welcome to this wonderful community. :+1:

Nice photo by the way.

10 gallon for finishing, I have a large 4 x 8 propagation L280 Jardin tent, but with the heat wave we have been having, I have transferred everything inside to control everything better, until seedlings are strong and Summer is over.

10 gallon is still a bit much, to each his own.
Happy growing.

@Enlightened420 It’s a awesome community. Here is the best advice I can give. If you have any doubts, ask questions. If your plant looks like something is wrong, take pictures first and ask. Don’t wait to figure out on your own. Plenty of knowledgeable growers here. :+1:

@MrPeat, I have already failed twice, struggling with environmental factors and not possessing the correct knowledge, rest assured I have learned that the only stupid question, is the one that doesn’t get asked. Appreciate the input

Yup…exactly. I was lucky my first plant was a White Widow and I got a pretty good yield. With every grow that you get under your belt, the better you get at growing.

If I was you, start a Grow Journal. It’s a good thing to do so others can follow your grow and they can help you out if a problem arises.

That’s what I was trying to do with this post haha

@Enlightened420 Like @Covertgrower was saying 5 gallon is just about all you need inside any bigger is a waste of medium trying to save you some money no need to waste it

Merry Christmas all: hope nobody eats to much, @Enlightened420 I have found that starting kits such a Jiffy pots or peat pots don’t work well with super soil, I just use small cups and put my seed directly in the super soil, if you put the Peat Pot into the super soil when your new roots get into the soil it can be to much on them, but when the seed germs and the tap emerges and hits that same soil you should have no problems with the soil, now I make my own ss and see you bought yours so I am not so sure of that,a good book if you don’t have it you should is True Living Organics by The Rev, he is a genius when it comes to growing all natural,I grow in 2.5 gal all the way thru the grow, you need to also build spikes in you pots also to for you ladies to be fed from with all the micro life. When you up pot from your cube I suggest at least having a barrier of just normal potting soil between your cube and the ss,this will allow your roots to find your ss on their terms and they will like it much better, you have to remember that you have enough amendments in your soil to grow your plant for 3 or 4 months if it has all the right amendments/measurements/spike/layers correct.
