That’s more or less how my first grow was I just winged how much dry amendments I thought I’d need then gave them molasses in their water to feed the microbes and I nailed it pretty well until 3 weeks of flower but i already know what I’ll do to fix it next grow
Guys have it nailed @patchman . Pearlite is for drainage/aeration and vermiculite adds minerals. I’m sure it also adds calcium but I could be wrong so I would add both
Sticking @ in front of a user name brings us around a bit quicker mate. I can be a bit slow in responding due to my broken brain so the @ helps me
Loving the fully organic mindset. I have my own mix that I use. I drifted away for a wee while but I’m back on it with better results as well. I won’t use chemicals at all, either in my garden or in my tent
Thanks @Davyg!
Your request has been noted. Sorry your brain is broken. Mine has been zapped with radiation so I feel for you. @Enlightened420 good job with your recipe. We will all be mad scientists experimenting with different recipes. Ok @Enlightened420 and @Davyg are we going to work as a team or work in secret? I am cool either way. There is something about a “secret ingredient” that sounds intriguing to me.
What’s your secret organic ingredient I MUST KNOW is it fulvic acid I just discovered that 2 days ago possibly fish shiz microbe booster?!?!
Duly noted @kaptain3d- it was just a question. You already know more than me, judging by the results. I am fine sharing recipes. I was just waiting until the results are in. That way I will know to write “this worked”
or “this didn’t work.” If I list them now and someone follows suit, and it sucks I would feel bad. I have already said that I have based my soil on build-a-soil’s video (#8).
They had a lab evaluate their recipe, and added/subtracted sphagnum moss. They found at a certain ratio, the soil ph was 6.1 or so. The more sphagnum moss the lower the pH (I think). I used some different amendments based on what was available. Good day to you kaptain!
Please, by all means, if you have to wait for your results, I’ll be patient…
But I’m really curious about those results!! You might say, I may be a bit over eager to learn…
And a wonderful, happy and pain free day to you too Monsieur @patchman
I will let you know kaptain. Its all pretty much been done at this point.
Most recipes that I have seen, and I know there are exceptions, were based on a 1part sphagnum moss, 1 part compost, and 1 part top soil.
Then the growers and scientists got together and changed the recipe. The above ingredients are still there, but in different proportions. They also added amendments to it like fish or crustacean meal, blood meal, bone meal, worm castings, worms, kelp meal, myco, and so on. I saw something interesting on worms yesterday. They said that “red wigglers” like to stay higher up in the pot, while night crawlers hung out at the bottom of the pot. Yes, I plan to use worms if I can find them locally. I dont need/want 5000 worms for $60. The recommendation was a dozen worms to every square foot. And they do self regulate themselves. Ok, bluberry’s got me spewing so I will be quiet. I have an update soon. “The cots” are still hitching a ride and I mist the clear solo cup dome at least once a day. Go out and ROCK your grow everybody!!
Spew all you want my friend… that’s gospel to my years… I love learning new stuff and that’s all new to me!
Thank you for sharing! You deserve more than one sheep with thumbs up…
Oh man thumbs up lamb has an entire family. The secret ingredient- Love! And Pantera!
A stroke has left my brain broken. Big chunk of the right side is dead now. I really should be eating pizza through a straw but I’m not. Somehow my brain has rewired itself, although my recall is a bit off hence the need for the @ thing:man_shrugging:. No secrets this side mate. I just add a bit of this and some of that. Memory is shot so each time I do it it’s like the first time
Now fulvic acid is a thing I’ve also discovered @GreenSnek . Forgot about till now though
@Davyg-
You all check out that fulvic acid. That is something I did not add, unless it was included in a powdered micronutrient/mineral pack I added. Luckily, I still have all my bags of stuff except the organic vermiculite.
What a coincidence. One of my best friends from high school just had a stroke and his whole left side is paralyzed. He has no job, no money, and didn’t work enough hours to qualify him for disability. We are frantically searching for him. He has 2 brothers but they aren’t really speaking, and understandably so. There really seems to be nothing out there if you are poor. Its sad…
@patchman Thanks for the tag, I’ll be following. I dont know much about soil so I’ll be learning
There is a massive divide between the haves and the have nots these days. What is so frustrating is the fact that the seriously wealthy put very little back in and what does go back in gets taken by the seriously corrupt. So wrong in so many ways. The stroke is a dangerous thing, it can hit anyone at any time. My left hand side is weak but not immobile, with me it’s the constant pain and discomfort that I struggle with. I’m in family photos and have no recollection of ever being there
The fulvic acid is a cool thing, you can actually get it as part of a series of vitamin supplements
Davyg-
I studied about the haves and have nots in college. A massive “intentional” divide sir. 20% of the earth’s population controls/owns 80% of the resources/valuables.
Middle class America is dwindling fast. Very soon it will be only rich and poor. We aren’t supposed to talk about politics, religion, and profanity here. I haven’t said anything really political, so I will stop here. Talk to you soon!
I just don’t want to get into trouble with the site. I think if I had kept discussing it with you it would have gone in that direction for me so I stopped. Peace
While I totally agree with you I’d like to chime in with the fact that homeless and poor here have a higher standard of living then even some middle class people in certain countries with that being said we really fall behind Europe in a lot of ways in that department . That’s as political as im comfortable here too
Mr Snek-
Moving on, I am not sure where you are on the map, but I found oyster shells at Wal mart today. I know, like big deal, oyster shells. But hey the were cheap, and are a good sources of calcium. I plan to try and break them up a little more. Just thought I would mention it. I will have an update on the little girl tomorrow and a picture or two.
