Growing again on my own!

Going down the only road I’ve ever known
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone
And I’ve made up my mind

Afternoon all,

I have recently gutted the grow space and in The process of cleaning everything up. I found something that peaked my interest in having soil and auto water system at the same time!

It’s 45” x 45” x 19” tall raised flower bed called foodcube. I figured I’d get a couple of these and see how they work .

Holding up to 20 gallons of water and 11 and a half yards of soil, I’m hoping to produce some quality monster plants. Join the ride and watch this come together. So far it’s one hour since ordering product. So it’s awaiting game

Alright so the idea I have is to lay out the room similar to the hydro setup. I will attempt to plumb the doser / water chiller setup into the self watering area of the planters. This will give me the ability to keep the reservoir ph’d and clean through the entire grow.

These 2 units connect together giving a total of 4 gallons inside the reservoir itself. So my concern is the flow of water inside the reservoirs won’t be enough to keep everything controlled properly.

May have to add a pool pump to them to mix better

Pretty girls you got yourself there!

Trying to put together a soil myself, gonna make 2 batches living soil , mix of amended soil with hopefully everything needed to survive and we can do a side by side comparison of what works best.

I’m looking into adding worms and maybe insects like beetles or other things into the containers….

Thoughts???

I would definitely look up what benifits the insects have for the plants before just adding random ones from the yard and what not. Im not sure if thats what your meaning. Worms poop out stuff in the soil and that is good for them. You can purchase myco enriched soil at a local greenhouse. I know lady bugs are good for plants and will eat aphids and spider mites. They are carnivorous and will not harm your plants. Stink bugs/green sheild bugs will leave a bunch of eggs on the under side of your leaves if you ever deal with them.

So far it looks like just red worms for castings , I’m building two different types of soil a living soil from bag and a super soil from a quick all inclusive recipe. This way I can have a side by side reference on which works better. Have some clones going so I know the results will be from the soil only
