Grow tent vs. room

I hope everyone is finding this day to be pleasant and relaxing.

I would like to know your thoughts on switching from a tent to a room. Pros and cons, input, etc. to compare with my own.

I have a 100 sq. ft. spare room that I have been considering using for quite a while now so here I am today looking for your personal thoughts and maybe some anti-procrastination.

I have all the equipment as well as the ability to tackle any work that may need done I have just been hesitant to pull the trigger. I would love the extra head room and the girls would love not being so cramped for space.

What do you all think?

The plants don’t care what the room looks like so long as they are getting the light they need along with proper temperature and humidity.

I grow in a framed room and in a tent, both about 8 X 8. Access is easier around the tent but the room has height advantage. I like them both equally.

The tent would be much easier to take down if needed, could be done in a couple of hours rather than a day or so to restore the room to its pre-grow condition.
The room is easier to disguise if needed.

A larger space needs a lot more light which costs $$$.d Many folks with larger areas to grow in prefer to divide the space into two or more smaller spaces, veg flwr seedlings, etc.

Hey merlin thanks for the reply! My thoughts exactly on dividing the space.

@merlin44 as mentioned tent much easier to take down pack up if you might have somebody coming in to feed your animals while you’re on vacation . Which is my case. I think a room would be nice if I didn’t have to take it down in between grows. Either way happy growing.

Hey kellydans thanks for the input! What you describe about breaking down the tent for quick discretion purposes is certainly on my list. That vacation you talk about is but a dream for me. I have not had a vacation in probably 15 years and don’t see one coming any time soon(bummer). Happy growing right back attcha friend!

The :man_mage: has u covered. I grow in a room and couldnt be bothered with a tent. But its takes more light intensity with that open space. Tents confine the photons to bounce around in a smaller area which is super helpful. But i love the environmental control im alotted in my closet. Central ac and a small fan. No need to tweak temps, humidity (usually), and as long as u can get it dark… no problems.

I build out rooms specifically for there purpose…
No wasted light or anything else for that matter…
You just have to be smart about the way you build the room and the space that you have to work with and the budget and how much work your willing to do…
But , if it’s not your house or property , I would stick with tents…

I use my tent to veg and use a room to flower in the more room they have allows them to have room compared to the confined space in a tent

Never did a tent and likely never will. For one thing, how do you support an AC unit? Outside is roomier but enemy insects abound, and bandits roam around…

@Shatter I actually have my window ac unit sitting on a 5 gallon bucket and it works like a champ.

It all depends. Do you want to go little, or go big. I have a veg ROOM and a flower ROOM. I have a 4x4 tent for seedlings and clones. If money isn’t a problem, I would DEFINITELY go with the room

I’m pondering switching out of my 10x20 for a 1,000 square foot room next spring when the snow is done flying. There seems to be a few advantages related to air circulation and temp control but obviously you’ll have those under better control in a sealed tent. My main concern with the tent is temperature rising.

I’m all about… both. I want my tent in an empty room. It allows me to ballpark my temp, rh and light pollution in the room and fine tune it within the tent. I’m going into a 20x10 room with 6 4x4 tents with 16 SOG in each. I’m aiming at 96 autos a harvest.
