Hi guys! This is my first grow and I figure this would be a great way to keep me accountable. I’ll try to post everyday or at least any minor changes.
Seed: Gelato from ILGM
Hydrophobic Growbox: MaryAg
Nutrients: General HydroPhobics trio
Water: Tap water
I have a PH pen and a ppm tester. Thankfully my tap water have a very low ppm of about 20-35.
The grow had started and I’m making this journal on the 9th day since the seed was place in the paper towels. I’ll attach the photos in chronological order. The photo with the seed shell was right after I snipped the membrane holding her leaves shut and manually removed the shell.
Thanks guys! I’m planning on posting a pic of her everyday so we can see her full journey. Might skip a few days here and there but I’ll try my best to stick to it if anyone cares to follow along. Hopefully I can use this journal to guide me on my 2nd grow.
Day 11. She started tipping a bit like @Graysin predicted so I gave her a little support, cranked the light up to high, and switched her phase in the app from seeding to vegetative to ensure they stay at high (see pic for what the light settings in the app looks like).
She got her first water change today! And her little roots just broke the bottom of the rapid rooter!
Day 13. Unlucky number 13… I literally screamed when I opened my Mary today. She tipped over! It’s hard to tell if any damage was done. Nothing looks snapped, I readjusted the support to it more in the direction she’s tipping. Im afraid she’ll grow longer and the next tip will snap her little stem. Any ideas for a better support tool?
You should transplant, and bury about half that stem, and move the light down or plant up to get them closer or she will continue to stretch like that.
Got it! I gotta search the inter webs to find something tall enough to support her through that stretching stage. I’ve never seen this issue with other Mary users do you think it could be partly because of the strain and how it grows during this stage. Or is it definitely the light distance only?
Edit: It doesn’t look as bright in the photos but it’s actually very bright in there. When the doors close they have a giant mirrors on them that allows light to bounce as well
Well certainly genetics are in play, but I suspect it’s mostly light. I always sprout in this (which give you a small T5 light and positions it at a good distance.
This is actually a great idea. I would have to find one that can support the grow plug I have because it’s pretty tall. But I’ll definitely invest in a seed starter the next grow. Hopefully this one doesn’t die one me.
