I’ve never used a Grove bag before but I have just ordered some did they work good? I bought 60 of the 1 oz bags
Will be tracking @Donk never used them still doing Jars.
Okay.. so what I’m going to do is use some of the humidity packs and some jars and grove bags and see which ones work better. They almost seem too good to be true. I ordered them from Happy hydroponics out of New York.
Grove Bags work. Can reuse for a couple years.
That’s something I wondered about them.
Ima follow along too bc I been curious about them. Would beat the crap outta burping a bunch of jars daily
After I put my weed in grove bags, I put all the bags in a tote and try to keep that in a part of the house that has rh over 45 or so. The hygrometers show the bags holding in the 58 to 62 rh after a year or so. If you ever order the bigger bags 1/2 lb or 1/4 lb from them , open and close carefully, I have had the zippers pull off the bags. I am thinking of heat sealing the older ones.
One other thought on using mason jars and burping, @SeaOhAreWhy is trying these packs, supposedly drop in a jar and it does the rest. Maybe he can chime in on their effectiveness.
They work awesome!
Dry your bud to about 10-12% moisture via a wood or hay moisture meter…
(This is why my apps dry charting has the two lines across for the sweet spot)
Should equal 58-63% in the sealed grove bag with hygrometer.
Then heat seal if possible for best results…leaving air in the bag.
Leave them for at least a month…the longer the better.
No burping no jars easy!
When I used jars, I also used boveda packs similar to those… unfortunately, I don’t trust those any longer as I had one of those packs leak this weird gel, pretty sure it’s not healthy to smoke the gel on the weed. So I stopped using them. Grove bags are easier…work great. I have grove bags a year or more old and still fresh. Just awesome.
i think ill be trying bags this time as well ![]()
They just gave some of the new Vivi packets away at the LA Grow Club event. I’ll be trying them with this harvest. I switched to the terp bags this last year and it was great. Put a hygrometer in each 8oz bag. The first couple of weeks if the humidity went up too high, I just reopened the bag for a couple of hours. Once it was back in range, ziploc sealed it back up. Once it stabilized, it held solid for the 8-week cure. Wasn’t every bag, only had to do it like twice. Love the bags, way easier than jars. Once cured, I vaccuum seal them, label them, and put them in the outside garage fridge. Stuff is still good a year later. Hope that helps.
Thanks for all the replies and input I’ll definitely let everybody know how it turns out
I just never have enough time it seems to pop the jars enough times and always feel like I ruined my cure and the taste. Poppin 60 or 70 jars three times a day as a pain in the ass lol
You should only have to open the jars once a day for about 20 minutes. I put mine under a slow moving ceiling fan for those 20 minutes. After a couple of weeks, you should be able to go every other day. 3 times a day seems like a lot more work than it needs to be. If you are willing, you should get just a couple of the terpene bags to try. Good luck.
Well you are completely correct I don’t know why I was doing it three times a day but I was only doing it for about 5 minutes or I would get high and leave the jar open for an hour. Guess I might be getting lazy in my old age. Just was a pain in the ass also to come home and do it after work . It just seemed I had so many jars it was overwhelming.
I do use those but I was under the impression that you needed to release gases out of the jar or you would get a foul taste.
Gas exchange: The curing process involves chemical changes in the plant matter. Burping helps release trapped gases like ammonia and chlorophyll, allowing for a smoother smoke and better flavor development. Some growers feel that Boveda packs alone do not provide enough air exchange for these chemical processes. For this reason that I googled lol
The picture I linked is a new product from Boveda. It is different than the traditional boveda packs. I don’t use those packs n my grove bags. The new product is meant to drop in mason jar for 10 days then throw it away and then the weed is ready. Boveda’s attempt to make burping unnecessary if using mason jars. I have never tried them but I did tag Cory as he is giving them a try.
Home test in progress Growmies. ![]()
Have just a couple days left before the grand opening. A few neighborhood weed experts have volunteered to come give a wiff and try the herb on day 10. Expert opinions matter and I’ll be sure to share ![]()
Honestly, I’m skeptical but we’ll see.
Can’t wait to hear the results I do the exact same thing and let seasoned smokers test it out . It is the way.
