Anyone know if green beams lights are still available? Their website seems to have disappeared. I upgraded to a 5x5 and could use another 240 to fill that tent.
I couldnt find it either when I checked a couple weeks ago. I assume they gave up. Was a good product but there is so much competition for Samsung diodes now.
I figured that was the case. Their 240s have been great for my needs. Guess I am going to have to find some more money for an hlg.
@dbrn32 @Spiney_norman either of you have any light suggestions? Any other decent affordable lights out there? I have two gb240s now, but figuring i need another 200+ watts to flower in the 5x5 tent. Thought about adding an hlg 260. Also considering a bigger light, and keep the 240s in the 3x3.
Look at the refurbs. Add promo code boxlapse at checkout. Edit BOXLAPSE no longer works…
I picked up a Mars Hydro FC-3000 on eBay for $167. It uses Samsung LM301B diodes and is a Bar style light. Mars Hydro has a store on eBay so its factory direct with full warranty. They have one up for auction each week and the final price is always quite a deal.
I am quite happy with the light. I run it in a 3x3 area at about 75%.
Here is the last one that sold. New one is 4 days away from finishing.
Not sure if the dimensions will work for your setup tho.
HLG will run sales for Christmastime and you can even get discounts on the refurb equipment. Just have to keep watch.
@Spiney_norman @ChittyChittyBangin thanks for the feedback. I can peacemeal my two 240s and maybe an old hps to cover the 4 plants that i have going in the 5x5. I’ll hold out until i can find a deal on a bigger light to cover the whole 5x5. Or, at least until the urge to veg in the 3x3 gets too strong.
There is pretty significantly difference between adding to the twin 240’s and getting a light to do a 5x5 on it’s own. So the biggest thing would probably be to figure out which way you want to go first.
I’m very obviously partial to hlg because I know what your customer experience will be like with them. If looking for cheaper alternatives maybe kingbrite on alibaba, but I would also expect longer shipping and service times.
@dbrn32 i did some looking at light options. What are your thoughts on flowering in the 5x5 with a 700 rspec fr? Will it be enough light? I expect to actually be around 4 x 5 max canopy. A refurbished 700 rspec seems like the best option (if it will cover the 5x5).
Plenty of light for a 5x5. It may just require you to have a little more clearance to canopy to get light pattern that large.
Ended up going a different route. Ordered an hlg 320 rspec fr refurb. I will fill in around it with the two 240s. I like the lower cost, and the ability to dim seperate areas in the tent.
