Man I’ve found the best thing for seedlings honestly is just a couple florescent bulbs from the convent store about 2 inches from the too if your dome. That’s just me though. Sometimes we try to make things harder than it has to be lol
My 300w viparspectra works great for seedlings.
You can kill em with kindness when they are babes. KEEP IT SIMPLE is the best advice when starting out. Soak em overnight, plant em in some seedling mix, mist a plastic dome cover. Put a light as close as you can without making them overly hot and let them alone. mist the dome every so often, adjust the light when they start to grow. Don’t worry about anything else until they get a few sets of leaves. You can do this.
Thanks guys. I guess I have killed them with kindness and too much fussing, checking every 5 min if they have grown. lol.
What size tent? I am have two tents. One big one for when/of they get older and a small one for the seedlings.
How close was the light?
As per information that came with the light. 29-30cm. It says it’s a 600W but actual wattage worked to be 60W but the light is very very bright. It illuminates the whole spare room when the tent is open.
That may have been a little close for plant that small.
Thank you
I am thinking the same thing…now!
Let’s hope the next lot of seeds will fair better.
What distance should I keep the new lamp to at?
Start it at about 18" or so if plant is directly below light. Then adjust based on how plant behaves.
Thank you so much. Will update when they have sprouted.
Appreciate everyone help and input, ![]()
STILL STANDING! WT!!!
OK, so instead of throwing out the seedling (Black D and Northern L) I separated and left them alone only to come back this morning and find they are still standing, thin, spindly and a small amount of green. I expected them to keel over by now. What ever is wrong with them it started at the leaf tips and went inwards towards the stem. Can anyone give me a better insight as to what I have done incorrectly to make this happen? I have searched but no luck. Is it a fungus??

I couldnt tell u hot soil maybe idk tbh. I’ll let someone else chime in
I have absoulutly not even a guess
I’m no help on this one sorry.
got me stuffed. bit different that one huh? been kept too wet? some kind of dampening off??
That is what I was thinking. I was using peat containers, which I no longer like, and wondered if they were holding too much water. The weird thing is they are still standing up and have some green in the centre. I do not hold any hope for them but if it is fixable I want to try as that was my only northern lights seed
And it will give me hope if I run into this situation again.
not sure how to fix. maybe only give it a spray with phd water, when its time, no more actual watering. not sure hey, but thats my thoughts. im still only learning too.
