1st ever grow, come along for the ride

Good morning everybody. Hope you are all having a beautiful weekend. So lets get on with it.

This is my 1st ever grow, if you dont count the 1 plant that i tried to grow back in the 90’s. I am growing in the AC Infinity 2x2 grow kit. Using promix soil. I have Gaia Green all-purpose, & bloom for nutes.

Just put the beans in soil this morning. Germinated them by doing the following.

  1. Soaked them in water for 16ish hours. (Wed. night)
  2. Placed them between 2 moist cotton pads, then placed them in ziploc bag (Thur. morning)
  3. Put them in soil this morning and into the tent.

Seeds are Granddaddy Purple (1x), & Trainwreck (1x) from Platinum Seeds.

Hoping I can get these to harvest. My only goal for this grow is to get to harvest, and get some kind of yield. Going to try not to stress about how much yield I get (worry about that later).

Anyway, heres couple pictures.

My husband loved my train wrecks! I hope this grow treats you well.

Best to you!

Congratulations on your new endeavors!!! Fat, potent yields are awesome, but like you said, getting to the finished line the first time is the main goal. And they get better and better. Have fun! Good luck and happy growing!!!

getting to the finished line

I only harvested 7 ounces total from five plants my first grow. Now, with all the great advice from everyone here, I harvest pounds from my outdoor grow that I give to family and friends. I don’t use MJ. At least they know it was homegrown and not laced with anything.

I stay within the legal limits for our State and give extra plants away if more germinate than expected.

Best to you!

@JaneQP @Borderryan22 thanks. And yes i agree just get to the finish line. Just going to try to learn a little more every time. Have learned alot just lurking around here. Lots of knowledge being shared here.

Youll like the GDP  just got done harvesting 3 of them. I did train, but end yield between 3 smallish plants was a little over a lb.

@ChittyChittyBangin WOW. Looks amazing. When i was browsing for seeds GDP was 1st one that I said yup getting that one. Feel like a kid on christmas morning. So excited i just wanna sit and watch them grow.

EDIT: forgot to ask what is that bag in the last picture?

That is a grove bag. After i dry, i just throw the bud in a bag and forget about it. It maintains proper humidity for curing and the bag naturally releases the bad gasses while keeping good gasses in. Eliminates the need for burping.

I highly recommend keeping it simple. Here’s what I do. I’ll skip the seed germination instructions since you’ve planted your seeds.
When seedling is as wide as the cup, transplant into fabric pot of happy frog mixed with perlite, worm castings, fox farm fruit and flower 4-9-3 per the instructions on the package. Then top dress with the fruit and flower after 6 weeks, then once a month after that. That’s it other than ph’ing your water. I do use a little fox farm kelp me kelp you during veg, and bio thrive bloom during flowering. Both organic as well. Here is mine. Also my first attempt at outdoor growing, but using the same method. Works for me without all the hassle of multiple products.

Morning peeps. Hope y’all have been having a great weekend. Today is my Friday. Just wanted to do little update.

So after just putting beans in soil in cups yesterday morning, i go to check on them after work.

GDP is trying to come say , i can see just a tiny amout of green. She looks like she’s trying pop seed shell off.

Trainwreck still isnt visible.

Sprayed the a little water on them both, also put just a touch of water in the bottom cup to let them drink from bottom. This was done after work yesterday. And again this morning.

Put domes over both to help. Also added a bowl of water to the tent to try and help raise humidity. Will have to invest in a humidifier when i get paid.

@Allingamer if you dont have a humidifier just put a bowl of water in your tent with a fan on it for the time being. So far so good! Good morning and i hope your having a great day so far!

@BigCat420 thanks for info. I did put a bowl of water in the tent last night. Its helping slowly. Definitely going to pick up a humidifier, will probably just get the AC infinity one so i can just plug it into the controller.

Those ac infinity ones are nice ive been eyeing them but i only have 1 new 69 controller and i doubt it would work with an inkbird controller

Havent heard of the inkbird controller before. I’ll be right back. Gonna go look them up.

I’m alllllllll about the AC Infinity 69 Pro controller (has wifi and BT) and the AC Infinity T7 Cloudforge. You can set up an automatic program so that it keeps your humidity in a sweet spot at all times. It also makes your humidity water last longer (I maxed out at 10days before needing to refill). You just have to make sure you use distilled or purified water, otherwise, with that type of humidifier, it will cost everything in a fine dust. I set mine up outside of the tent to save space and she makes very little noise:)

Morning again everyone. Just a little update on my 2 little ones that i put in aoil on Saturday AM. GDP is just starting here 2nd set of leaves. Trainwreck is above ground, but looks like shes heading off to war wearing her helmet.

When do y’all start counting days? Is from 1st day above ground or 1st day of actually seeing green?

Hope everyone has a great day.

Whats with the yeller leaves @ChittyChittyBangin …lmao. J/K…grin. Nice cannibalising. Gonna be solid smoke.
Welcome to growing @Allingamer . You have come to a very very beginner friendly forum. Over last couple of years I have observed many totally new growers develop solid skills from the help up here. A lot of them are still here and contribute their knowledge and experience to the collective helping many others. Some actually shame us old guys in yields and process now…lmao.

@Storm thanks for the welcome. Lurked for awhile before actually set up account. Lots of information sharing which i like. Also everything and everyone seems to always be positive. Dont usually see that online.

How long does it usually take for the plant to lose the seed shell once above ground?

Also, do y’all talk to tour plants? Hoping I’m not the only one who does. Lol.
