If the helmet doesn’t come off in two or three days, I tend to take tweezers, close them and open them in the shell gap to pop it open/off. As for the talking, I like to give a little pep talk every day😉
Is there anyway to fix overwatering? I think i might have over watered my young 'uns. There has been zero growth in 4 days. Is there a fix or do i need to start over?
1st picture from this morning , 2nd picture from this sunday evening
Just let the medium dry out before watering again. Also take into consideration that in this stage it is focusing on root development. Gdp is one of my favorite strains, good luck!
It is a sad day this morning. GDP has not survived. ![]()
I’m guessing Trainwreck will probably follow suit. So, I started 2 new ones germinating this morning. Looking over my notes to learn from mistakes (which i knew i would make).
I am determined to figure this out. Will apologize now for how many questions I will be asking going forward.
Sorry to hear that, you got this!
@MadamCalamity thanks. I’ll eventually get it figured out. Glad i took an idea from when i do my BBQ, and kept a journal and notes so i can see and learn from my past mistakes. Also the massive amount of information from people here has been and will continue to be an asset.
Taking notes is very beneficial. When I first started I kept a notebook as well with everything I did. It definitely came in handy. Once you get past the trial and error and figure out what works for you and you reap the rewards of you’re harvest you’re not gonna wanna stop. It’s a great community of knowledge here. Can’t wait to see you succeed.
It’s gonna work out @Allingamer and we are here to answer questions! I have numerous grows under my belt and still ask em, so never apologize for wanting to learn more.
some days the questions/answers are gonna be obvious and some days not…
Still feel like that sometimes too…kinda like when I ask where my glasses are (and my friend points to my head) somedays, and others it’s like factoring the fuel pressure in a rocket…
@TransplantedFarmgirl thanks for the encouragement. I know i will gwt this.
Would y’all reccomend adding in some perlite to my soil? I am using promix all purpose. It seems very compacted when wet. Or am i just being a noob and overthinking it?
It probably would be beneficial since perlite helps prevent the soil from compacting, it would also help with drainage and adding oxygen. I believe most people that grow in soil add about 15-20% perlite. I’m probably not the best person to answer your question though, I personally use a coco perlite mix.
@MadamCalamity yea. Thats what ive learned. If this next run doesnt go very well in soil im going to switch to coco/perlite mix.
@Allingamer I’ve gone down the overwatering road before. It’s so hard to not water when all you want is your gals to do well:) I’ve done the coco/perlite through A Pot4Pot, which gives you a great foundation for a great grow. Even when mistakes happen, the soil is very forgiving and it only gets easier as the plant matures. The downside, is cost and realizing that if you don’t keep your living soil damper than the usual wet/dry cycle, you might see reduced yields. This is my second time with P4P and holy buckets, I’m having trouble keeping two plants from growing into the lights! But, I’m just talking from my limited experiences. So many folks here know a ton more than me:) (if you do go the P4P route, I would avoid the peat pods that come with it)
@NewbieWazowski Thanks for the info. Will look into them. Have also been doing research about autopots. Also dipped my toes into some reading about dwc. I kind feel like i did when i bought my 1st smoker. Dive in, learn as much as will possibly fit in my pea sized brain. Lol.
I just want to learn as much as i can about growing this beautiful plant, and by doing that reduce the price of my medicine.
Welcome, and good luck to ya! Youre at the rite place to get started growing. Everyone here offers up the best help and advice youll find anywhere. Youll fall in with a clique of growers, and have a blast learning:man_farmer:![]()
I use organic promix. It will compact, it’s best to add some perlite.
So my little trainwreck is still going. Although she seems way way small for being 1 week old today. Should she be bigger 1 week in or am I wrong?
I think the hardest thing is being patient with seedlings. Every seed is going to be a little different and it will take different amounts of time for each setup. I wouldn’t worry too much:) I think you’re in a good spot - keep on keeping on:)
@NewbieWazowski thanks for encouragement. Im terrible with being patient.
After doing a little more research im noticing that most pictures of seedlings at 1 week old look almost identical to my little trainwreck.
Im beginning to think that because i check up on her a couple times a day, i feel like im not seeing any growth. When in reality its just because i keep checking in on her.
Going to let her keep growing, and also have 2 new beans to put in soil tonight after work.
Just want to say thank you to everyone who has been helping me out here on the site. Glad i found this place. ![]()
long live runts!!!
So planted the 2 new seeds in soil tonight. Hope they survive. Is it bad if they pop their shell well still in the paper towel? Cuz thats what happened with the GDP. Its beginning to get a little crowded inside my tent.
Also happened to stop at the store on way home from work and they had some FFHF so i picked it up and the 2 new girls are in said
. Fingers
i dont screw this attempt up. Lol.
