Lately, trying to reduce my alcohol consumption. I like my relationship with cannabis a lot more than my relationship with alcohol. It just feels a lot more balanced. Does anyone have any recommendations for strains or particular terpenes that I should investigate for this purpose? Thanks in advance!
I suggest any weed is better than any alcoholic beverage out there. Lol. I’m not a drinker at all don’t like the smell taste or anything about it really lol. Every time u feel the urge to wanna drink light up a joint lol. Have u tried dabbing at all. Its a different feel from smoking the flower form for sure. I myself love dab form as it has a cleaner taste to me and the flavors of the weed just seem to stick out a bit more to me the buzz hits u like now dabbing. If u havnt and do try it ease into it as the first few times of hitting it can cause the sweats and all. Lol. But to maybe answer ur question a bit more. Anything more indica dominant of full indica will prolly be better suited for what ur looking for as it’s a more heavy hitting couch lock type of weed where as sativa’s are usually more of a pick u up type of smoke.
Decades ago I drank beer as much as I case a day at times, but I also toked, a lot! Then after being extremely fortunate in an accident I quit drinking only having an occasional beer. It was the smoke that got me through.
Then I had to quit smoking because of having to take surprise Wiz quizzes. Now retired Found myself starting to drink too much again. So decided to start growing despite it being legal and easy to buy. I would suggest growing Autoflower it’s more forgiving and quicker. In the past I did outside gorilla growing, mostly skunk, and always bag seeds. ( until the early 80s we rarely had seedless, strictly commercial)lol but then it was only $20-25 forA4 finger bag
Skunk will give you that body Buzz and a decent Head trip as well. And it’s not too potent for starting out I’m what you would call a deadhead so my first attempt at Auto is Gorilla Glue LOL. Personally my alcohol substitute is more towards indica strains.
Hope that helps good luck!
@Mark0427 I have not tried dabbing. How is the high different? Is it hard to prepare your own dab from flower?
@Ozark congratulations to you! I think that not drinking leads to such a higher quality of life! I grew WW autos as my first grow, and really like the balance it provides. Now, I’m in my 2nd grow of autos-AK-47 & Bubblegum. Have you tried any of these strains?
If u use a press it’s super easy. Butane extraction is another way but can be dangerous if not done right and in a vented area. Then there’s bubble hash and extraction with 190 proof everclear there r few different ways of doing it I use a press for most of mine every now and again I do open blasting with butane that’s easy also and don’t take alot of time half hour I can run an oz can press half oz at a time and usually get about 4 to 5 grams of return per half or so press is about a 6 minute process start to finish. Bubble hash is good but a pain in the butt draining the bags if u have too much product in the wash. Last I can think is dry ice runs and knocking off trics with the dry ice method
Dabbing gives you way more thc/cbd per hit. Theres lots of ways to make concentrates. rosin press, alcohol of various types and butane or co2 extraction. You’re going from + or - 20% to maybe 75% thc. Tastes better and better for you than smoking flower.
I’m an edibles guy myself , you’d be surprised at how much the terps change the flavor of pressed cooked bud. Ultimately your choice of strain depends on why you drink . If its for fun and happy you want euphoria and uplift strains ( skywalker og ,purple punch, banana kush). If its to get hazy and forget the world you’d want something like stardawg. The strain that probably imitates alcohol the most is zkittles since it has a strong come up fun period then a hard come down munchy or pass out finish
Yes I’ve had WW and AK. Don’t recall bubble gum. Since the early 70s I’ve had most all strains available. At times it was whatever could be found.
In the very early 80s some friends and I we’re growing large quantities of skunk gorilla Style on 3 Ranchs.
I noticed someone mentioned curing or drying with dry ice. This was common in the late 70s early 80s with better smoke. It was then sold under the moniker wacky weed. If done correctly it will increase potency.
It is also a simple trick for those who can’t wait to take a toke.
Wouldn’t recommend doing it to the all buds, but a couple can be done in a day or two and will give you some quick smoke.
When we had our large crops we used dry ice to cut down on dry time with several pounds a day being trimmed.
All the trimmings went into a dedicated washing machine with ice cubes. And then the meat that makes up the hash was captured in a mesh bag. Not really applicable for most here, but…
I have dozens of bee hives on my Ranch. Occasionally I well ferment some Mead. When reading someone else’s reply it gave me an idea, I may try some weed Mead. Kind of rolls off the tongue LOL
Spring can’t come soon enough! I have many hidey-spots tucked around the ranch.
Love this site getting many great ideas and tips. Good luck!
This not correct . . . autoflower plants are not any easier (they just don’t need to be flipped) and are certainly NOT more forgiving that photoperiods. Make a mistake with an autoflower and you’re lucky to harvest an ounce, make a mistake with a photoperiod, let her veg an extra week or so and keep on keeping on, or take a clone and go again
They aren’t necessarily any faster either . . . we just normally choose to veg a photoperiod plant a bit longer than the average autoflower decides to veg. Actual flowering periods are roughly the same. If I want a faster harvest I just flip a photoperiod at 21 days veg and that usually gives me a consistent 3-4 ounces in the same time frame as what I can run an autoflower seed to harvest.
This thing where banks and breeders advertise autoflower as good for beginners is BS, a marketing ploy to sell more seeds. Makes sense from a business interest, sell seeds that are 1 seed/1 plant . . . photoperiods are/can be 1 seed = endless clones. If I want 4 plants, start one seed and take cuttings . . . makes more sense than starting 4 expensive seeds unless you’re hunting.
Perhaps you’re correct I’m only going based on what I keep reading about autos on this site.
I agree there’s a lot of marketing taking place. Regardless what it is,everything seems to be feminized. Makes it hard to harvest seeds. And all of us don’t have time for cloning year round.
I’m now growing one Autoflower for the first time. So far no difference.
I’ve always done photo outside in the past. But it has been a while. This spring I intend on growing auto outside. I have a large Ranch lots of fields and Forest all cross fenced. So where the grow is not a problem. But between the ranch work and the large garden every year time is hard to come by. And then there’s the weather. The last three years around the end of August we’ve had extremely high winds and hail. That has really taken a toll on my garden each time. Hopefully with the auto I can beat what seems to becoming a pattern with the weather.
I’ll take your advice on recovery time with Auto something I never gave much thought to. Thanks
Here’s a picture of my GG seedling. Popped its first two leaves six days ago.
Plenty of regular seeds available if you want to produce seeds . . . I just prefer feminized due to running different strains all the time. I almost always take at least one clone just in case I grow something special and want to run it back . . . if not I have a neighbor who likes my leftovers.
