Girls have some discolored leaves

Everyone here has helped so much with their knowledge, I started my first grow about a mont ago. I’ve been so happy (and stressed :joy:) to see their progress but need a little help.

Here’s the support ticket for reference

Add anything else you feel would help us give you a most informed answer. Feel free to elaborate, but try to be brief and to the point. Short and to the point questions and/or facts will help us help you

I transplanted into fabric pots a week ago with FFOF. Been using distilled water to try to avoid pH issues while I wait for my PH test kit.

I started The FF trio yesterday at half the suggested dose with their watering.

Just noticed the leaves on one start to discolor on the edges. Hopin I’m on track supplementing with the FF trio…
Would love any input on what might be goin on with my girls leaves
Thanks in advance!

Ph. You’re gonna need a pH meter and if you’re using the trio with distilled water you will also need calmag. Looks like possible slight burning. But for sure get a pH meter. If you had one and you thought it didn’t work because it bounced around in distilled water, it worked. Just can’t pH distilled water by itself. So the cheap meters don’t pretend to be able to read it. Expensive ones just give you something near 7. With that being said and you switched to ocean forest, stop feeding. Just distilled water will take on the pH of the medium, which is all you need to give her till ppms in run off hit 800. That’s a pretty hot soil. Could take 6 weeks before you need to feed. Could probably feed minimal in it before, not sure. I use happy frog because it’s mild enough you can get your nutes started right away. Ocean forrest can sprout and grow a seedling for 6 weeks with only water, usually with very minor burns to the seedling. But most ive seen do show the signs, they do fine overall. It just is a fairly hot soil for manys liking.
So once they feel light again just water with distilled till run off. Monitor ppms. She’ll be fine.

@SwedishB As Bud said it’s a hot soil & your starting to get nute burn on the edges of your leaves. When you get you get your PH meter & your using distilled water (again as Bud said) put silica & calmag in it befor e trying to PH the water cuz you can’t PH distilled water without some PPM.

Hey SwedishB-
I think Budz has given you some sound advice. You won’t need to feed them with ocean forest for awhile. Your ppm readings of run off will determine when you start feeding like Bud said. Have the leaves always been that color? They look a little pale to me like they could use some nitrogen. When you get your pH pen test the runoff. The pH has to be in the right range or your plants may lock out any nutes. Even the ones that are already in the ocean forest soil. Hope that helps. Sometimes when you switch to a soil with nutes already in it, you can get a little burn. It usually resolves itself. If you see it getting worse you may need to take action, but I don’t think that will happen. Good luck and tag me any time. I am still relatively new. If I don’t know the answer, I know someone who will. Peace…

Those nutes drop the pH. If really worried would just do an early watering with healthy run off. The soil should still be able to fix itself with a little rinsing. Then the root zone will be happy again.

As they mentioned above, they shouldn’t need any food for about 4 weeks or so with FFOF.

After that, give them a 1/4 of the recommended dosage on the bottle. EASSSSSSSSE them into it. See how they react after a 1/4 dose.

You got good advice. No more nutes until flower. As stated you should be using cal mag as well.

Thanks so much!

Such great advice! I really appreciate it! I’ll get a quality ph meter and continue as advised and keep y’all posted as time progresses :relaxed:
