Just a suggestion here, to get started and get some bud to enjoy a little quicker, and since this is your first grow, why not start with a couple of autos? You could easily do three or four in that size of a tent.
What is an auto?
Auto flower. It will automatically go into flowering without having to worry about adjusting your lighting times. ILGM has some great strains.
Did you say you were going to scrog earlier? Iâm all for going after whatever, but you may get really frustrated with 4 plants scrogged under one net.
If you want to run 4 plants and scrog, I would probably suggest using a tent that has access from adjacent sides. And using individual nets for each plant. Plants that grow differently and finish at different times will make one net a giant pain in the behind.
I would probably be a little hesitant to scrog an auto indoors too.
Scrogging is awesome but that goes back to my 1 plant theory. The purpose of a scrog is to fill the screen with 1 plant. But u have enough space to run a few nets and a few autos. As a newbie I think a few autos with your photos would b good. If anything goes awry with your photos U will have the autos and vice versa.
Ok one of the strains i chose is white widow. They have a specoal buy 10 get 10 free. It autoflowering right?
They have both feminized and autoflowering.
Cant i scrog the sativas to keep the height down and does the auto white widow deal have males in them
What is the difference between the feminized and autoflowering white widow
@ybnorml
Feminized seeds are photos. Meaning you control when to flower them by adjusting their light schedule.
Autos will flower on their own, without adjusting their schedule and, generally, finish sooner.
Both have their pros and cons.
Photos usually take longer to finish but potentially give better yields. They also give you more time to correct problems.
Autos will finish quicker with lower yields but donât let that discourage you. Iâve seen some amazing harvests from autos. Iâve not grown autos myself but plenty of folks here do and do amazing with them.
All autos on ILGM are feminized.
Thanks SilentHippie for explaning that to me.
@ybnorml
To address your other question, you can absolutely scrog sativas to control height.
The disadvantage is, once youâre in the scrog net, you canât move your plants around much.
I scrogged my first grow and it was great.
This time I didnât because itâs easier to pull my plants out to do maintenance on them as opposed to bending over or laying on the floor to work on them.
Are there other ways to control height besodes a scrog?
Ok thanks everyone. I appreciate the advice so much. God bless you all. God bless america. Thanks for the appreciation of my service. It means a lot.
@ybnorml yes there a lots of ways to control height. You can use Low Stress Training (LST) by tying the plant over to one side, and as she grows, just keep tying her down until eventually in a circle. You can really get great height control that was well.
You can also super crop. Where you pinch the stem until itâs limp. Itâll stunt the growth, and cause it to shoot more side growth.
Welcome, @ybnorml, and thank you for your service. Hang in there on the VA crap, I feel you. Youâll soon be enjoying your own medicine you grew yourself. Itâs a very rewarding and relieving feeling. I wish you the very best. Youâre in the right place!
Thanks elheffe702. Well ive placed all the orders. Man is it expensive? I need to pick up some potting soil and i should be ready to start. Ive read different opinions on using potting soil with nutrients added. I guess some have had their seedlings burnt by soil with nutrient.
It can be quite expensive, but the return is well worth the investment. Some strains are more resilient than others, but it is easy to burn a seedling in too hot of soil, for sure. A lot of folks will put their seeds in starter soil without any or with fewer fertilizers, then transplant to soils with fertilizers. Others even layer the types of soil. You could even use an inert medium like coco, so that the plant only gets exactly what you give it. The options are quite numerous, so definitely do your research and make an informed decision. Whatâs perfect for me might not work at all for you. Itâs easy to make expensive mistakes, but most are just as easily avoided with some information going in. Ask lots of questions, everyone here is pretty helpful.
If this is going to be your first grow. You should deffenitly go with the white widow. Buy 10 seeds get 10 seeds
'llfree you can also get them as an AUTO Flowering plant as well
That way youâll have plenty of seeds as backup as you learn.
