What brand of calmag? I see one on Amazon Calmag+

Ok I am reading up on the using of calmag. May I ask you to explain ppm for me because I really dont understand it

Use calmag as you go through your grow. You will see the signs of deficiency. Just use plain water for the time being as that soil as explained above should do you right through to the start of flower

Botanicare is a good brand also Fox Farm I’ve used both. I think each one will call for a different amount when useing.

What do you mean I will see signs of defiency? Sorry I am just a total beginner but once stuff gets explained to me I learn it. I would of never gotten into this if I knew there was so freaking much to learn. I am just a risk taker

I use General Hydroponics CACiMAGic.
PPM stands for parts per million. With respect to growing cannabis, It is a measure of stuff, usually nutrients, found in water. TDS is also used. This is Total Dissolved Solids.
Measuring PPM is important. On the feed side, it tells you how many nutrients you have in the water. Young plants do not need a lot of ā€œfoodā€ so you use less nutrients resulting in lower PPM numbers. As the plant matures and grows, especially during flower, the plants consumption rate, kind of like burning calories when exercising, increases. You then need to feed them more. There are guidelines for PPM during various stages of growth. PPM measurements are also taken from runoff in drain-to-waste feed methods like top feeding in soil / coco. Monitoring runoff PPM helps the grower know what is going on in the medium. Are PPM increasing? An indication salts (nutrients) are building up in the soil because the plant is not consuming all it is being fed. Conversely, is it stable or decreasing. The plant is consuming everything it is given or more and the plant is depleting what is in the soil (if any) or consuming itself.
Lots of good articles on ppm & ph. A couple to get you started

Does feminized seeds take longer to sprout and grow than a autoflower seed. Also when is it classified the size of a clone

Don’t sweat the questions, have a prowl about this forum and start learning. It’s like doing a degree in plant biology, the folks on here have an immense wealth of knowledge and are willing to share any amount of it with you, all you have to do is ask. Autos have a fixed amount of time to go full term whereas photos can be vegged and flowered to suit yourself. As for a clone that’s a cutting from another plant and will always be a clone regardless of size. Speak to other growers on here and learn from them. Download Robert’s Bible, there’s loads of great info on there. If you need to get someone’s attention you can tag them using @ in front of their user name like @bbdeb1958 . That will put a flag up and they will pop over for a chat, just remember that this forum is global so it can take a bit of time for someone to get back to you

Davy thank you for that info. I do want to learn it. But it is overwhelming

There’s so much to learn and it can be a bit bewildering. Break it down into bits that are relevant to where you are just now. You are at the seedling stage so you need to read up on that first. Be careful when watering as a lot of seedlings are killed by kindness. I have put links in for the grow bible. There’s loads of info there :sunglasses:

Here’s the update on the seedling here. I put some more coco on it and I do have a support for it. So then go ahead and start using calmag along with just water. I have been giving the dose of nutes of Fox Farm for seedling stage

Also is the grow Bible worth printing off. Or just print off certain stuff? May I ask you where you are from

Hey what do you use for a little pesty gnat shaped pest in coco. What do I use to keep it under control?

I use good ole mosquito bits. I grow in soil. Coco shouldn’t make a difference. Bug sticky strips will help with the flyers.

I’m in Edinburgh so it was bed time for me. I wouldn’t feed anything as there should be plenty there for your seedling just now.
Need to get your terminology on point here. If I’m right you’re using ocean forrest, that’s a very rich soil with plenty of nutrients in it and will require no feeding for a while yet. You’re also talking about coco which has zero nutrients in it which will lead to confusion. No expert in lighting but that light should be ok. @dbrn32 knows a lot about these things. I’ve tagged him. He will pop by if he’s available and share his knowledge with you

Printing the grow bible isn’t a bad idea. Lot of folks prefer the feel of paper rather than the touch screen. Where are you in the world. If we had an idea of where you were you might be able to get a better idea of what’s available in your area from other growers. Don’t be specific keep it general
