Started some seeds in a damp paper towel a few days ago. Paper was plenty damp yesterday. Checked this morning and it was bone dry.
So, how bad did I mess up? I dampened the towel again, but I’m concerned that I’ve somehow hurt the seeds by letting it completely dry out.
Should I start new seeds? Or will they recover and all is well?
(Wouldn’t matter, but seeds are high dollar anymore.)
They may be ok its hard to tell i would let them go for awhile longer just try not let them get to dry again @RowdyRod happy growing my friend
Did you look at the seed? Did it open yet? You should be ok.
Try folding the paper towel and placing in a ziploc bag.
I usually soak the beans for up to 24 hrs in a shot glass, then transfer to paper towel using method above. Another 24-48hrs and most of the time they’re ready to plant.
Ive had this happen in paper towels. Ive switched to soaking in water in a sauce cup with better success. 1st day it will float. Next morning tap the seed and it will sink. It will crack open in the next 2 days.
Thanks you for your responses. I’ll put them in a bag to retain moisture, and wait a few more days before starting a new batch.
You guys are the best.
I soak my in water for 2 or 3 days at most and put in soil.
Most the time they cracked already.
