So I’m getting some new seeds I haven’t been having the best luck with germination could anyone help ?
My method.
3 parts water
1 part hydrogen peroxide
Soak seed in solution for 12 to 24 hours
Immediately plant in soil about a quarter inch deep. You want the taproot up. Or the cracked part facing up. Should pop her head out within 3 to 4 days. When seedling emerges, cover with a humidity dome ( another clear solo cup ) sprayed with water on the inside amd placed over the seedling. At this age they receive their water from the air, not the soil. You want your temps around 80°F
In ml? Should I use water from the faucet ? What tens should I keep them in ? Do I need a heating mat ?
Also plants look beautiful also thank you !
Tap water is fine at room temp. I use a little plastic shot glass. Volume doesnt matter as long as parts are equal.
You use a heat mat for when they’re in the water ? Do you use one after ? If you were to place them in like a paper towel ?
I used the paper towel method years ago… it never worked for me. You dont need a heat mat, just set your solution on something warm. As long as the water temp isnt below 70 youll be fine without heat. The pic i posted was when the temps in my shop were getting into the 40s a few days ago…
I usually use it after I do the water method if they don’t pop out after 2 days but I haven’t really had luck I did 18 last time I think and none of them came out was pretty upset
First off do not use treated city water from your tap. Place your seeds in a shallow dish and add room temp water. Place the dish in a warm dark area and your seeds, if good quality, will pop in 2 - 3 days. I plant my seeds just barely under the surface of the soil using a pencil point to make the hole for the seed. I recommend Fox Farm Ocean Forest potting soil.
The seed should be planted tap root down!
I also plant my seeds in plastic cups and as plant gets root bound I transplant to a larger 6" pot and eventually transplanting to a two or three gallon bucket. Good luck.
Microwaved some water, must have been too much.
Almost all seeds instantly exploded from shells.
Ouch.
They didn’t like it hot, I guess.
None ever grew.

Your example is showing a bean seed that has been germinated below the surface of the ground. We are talking about germinating in water.
Seeds germinated in water have the tap root exposed thus the reason for planting tap root down.
I’m going to try that I haven’t been having the best luck but thanks to everyone that is trying to help me out and commenting also !
Also should it be tap root down ? Or up ?
Place the tap root up so that it has to grow the seed throgh the soil causing friction so that the sead shell will be removed by the time it hits the surface.
THIS is why you plant taproot up. ^^^^^ less chance of helment head
It’s kind of a mixed bag, and area of debate.
It’s called a “J root”, where the tap root does a 180. So a J root would be planted tap root up at first, then it turns and goes down.
This doesn’t happen all the time though, then planting the instinctual way of tap root down would be better.
The odds of either happening are still open for interpretation imho though, so take it for what it’s worth. Mother nature never worried about it.
