Wait but if Iā€™m using FFOF I probably donā€™t need earth dust because itā€™s already loaded with nutrients correct?

Just use half the amount of the Base with FFOF

You recommend earth dust highly? What does it essentially help with? Just nutrients and stuff?

Correct. Dont know ff but organic unammended soil best to cook in. Living soils regulate a lot of intake by being a symbiotic partner with root system. Thats all i know about using a preammended soil with ED. @MeEasy is our resident Earth Dust expert.

Iā€™ll give it a go! What soil do you use?

No clueā€¦lmao. I am a total caveman retard. I go to nursery and snatch whatever non ammended organic they have on sale. I have not grabbed soil in almost a year or more. Reuse it. Gets better.

Thanks for the tag Storm :grinning: hi @Sammys ā€¦ I get a good deal on fox farm here locally so I use frog all the time and when the soil is new I only add 2 tbs/gallon of soil. This is what @MattSunshine Matt at TGSC recommend and is actually in the online instructions now as what to do when using an amended soil

Itā€™s right here under what soil to use right above the if you use coco

I use FFOF for top 2/3 of pot and FFSF for bottom 1/3. Works great. People are always saying that FF is too hot for seedlings, that just hasnt been my experience.
That being said, I think where you buy it makes a difference. When Ive gotten it from a place that stores it outside in the elements, the soil is dryed out and doesnt smell as fresh earth as it does when I get it from the hydro store, they store it inside. Its worth the 25 miles extra to get to the hydro store.

I think you are right , plus the fox farm soil is a living soil and should be cooked before you use it. It has to have the time to balance out and create that food web that feeds the plants. Iā€™ve never had an issue with fox products but I have always cooked it even before I knew I was  Iā€™ve always used solos and made my pots and solos on the same day by the time the plants went into the pot it had time to cook. I use rapid rooters now but itā€™s the same thing plus I have enough soil that a week or two before harvest I start my pots

Hereā€™s what I do, and itā€™s simple. Get some fox farm happy frog soil, and solo cups. Fill a cup with soil, and moisten the soil. Plant the seed directly into the soil (not very deep), spray a little water on it to settle the seed, and stick a baggie over the top to make a little greenhouse. Keep it warm, and it should break ground in about 3 or 4 days. Stick it under your light on low power, and donā€™t water until dry. When the leaves get as wide as the cup, transplant into a 3 or 5 gal fabric pot of happy frog mixed with perlite and fox farm fruit and flower 4-9-3 per the instructions on the package. Then top dress with the fruit and flower after about 6 weeks. Then once a month after that if necessary, and thatā€™s it other than phā€™ing your water. I also mix some worm castings in when Iā€™m filling my pots. I also use a little bio thrive bloom during flowering.
