@idunno814 UGH! Sorry! I’ve not lived where there are groundhogs, but we had TONS of ground squirrels in SoCal. I think they are pretty similar. In SoCal, I dug my entire garden down about 18" and buried chicken wire under the whole garden and partway up the sides. There are also little high-pitch sound emitting things you can stick in the ground that work (kind of). I also planted lots of marigolds next to each plant; they seem to deter the little #*%#ers reasonably well. And they make something called a Squirrelinator that works really well to trap them. They like chicken scratch for bait a lot in the Squirrelinator. Can you tell I dealt with these little sh!ts a LOT?! Wishing you the best with this issue!

yeah… we have TONS of groundhogs, rabbits, deer, racoons, coyotes, etc. I should have known to fence it in. I will pick up some marigolds. I’ve heard those are pretty effective as well.

I read thru your topic . Im late in replying . So I’m just sharing maybe someone will find something useful
Solo cups I use are the clear ones the smallest they have. I let them fill with roots then I up cup to the biggest clear solo cup.when I up cup they get a dusting of great white . I grow them in a tent with an LED way too big for my tent . Setting the timer to the amount of daylight we will have the day I want to put them outside .when it’s time to go outside I give them a few hours a day out in the wind and early sun 4 or 5 days + or minus few days some years . Then it’s time to turn them out . 50 gallon cloth bags well prepared soil . . I found the cloth pots work much better than holes in the ground amended with my mix I have grown in the ground almost two decades and the pots have made a world of difference .nothing wrong with the ground . My yeild has increased by so much it’s hard to believe .I can get more buds with six potted plants then growing 16 in the ground . I use no chemicals not even to que insects

Cool set up I wish I had an area to go into the ground like that…Yeah Im sure there are tons of obstacles…But you babies will flourish!! I am outdoors but in fabric pots there’s a few probs mostly the dreaded and evil Caterpillars… 
Not too much else…still gotta watch for white flies and aphids keep us posted on your grow!!

Can doing a myco flush on a seedling cause root rot?
You’re plant’s look Nice , my outdoor grow method is starting seedlings in small containers until they have 3 or 4 leaves and some size, i transplant them into 1 gallon pots i let them grow until they establish a good root system, you can see the roots coming from the drainage holes, I dig a good size hole into the ground, I sprinkle Sevin granulated insecticide into the bottom of the hole, reason why is to kill any underground pests, such as cutworms, don’t worry it won’t harm your plants, then put a high quality potting soil into the hole, you can also put earthworms castings or other nutrients if you want , put the plant in and water it , this method works for me Good Luck and Happy Growing

I don’t know about groundhogs, but I had field mice digging mine up at night, killed a couple of plants, someone suggested using cayenne pepper flakes , it worked for me haven’t had anymore digging up plants
