Always welcome @Davyg and I very much appreciate all of the help and input from all the wonderful ppl in this forum. What a great community. Wish I had more knowledge to share but I’m just getting started myself. Hopefully as My knowledge grows I can contribute more and help our youngsters.

April 22, Here are pictures of the girls 6 days after fim. First time for this and don’t really know what to expect but looks like several new branches coming on.

Spring has finally arrived and I swear they grew a full inch last night. Looking nice and healthy.

April 22, Red wigglers arrived today. I was surprised at how active they were and all of them burrowed into their new homes within 5 minutes. I put about 40 in each grow bag and the rest went into the compost bins for now.

They look much different than the earth worms I’ve been using. Hope they get along.

I made it a couple years ago as I like to garden @Dick and wanted to have some place to protect the more delicate :seedling: plants during the winter. It was a pretty simple build. Then cultivation became legal here so I thought hmmmmm. AND here I am. I’m worried that it could get too hot during the hot summer here so I have solar powered gable fans on both ends. Seems to help. Also have a roll up shade cloth on the west wall if needed during the hottest part of the day and a very light agriculture shade cloth on part of the ceiling. Plants seem to like it so far.

The black color to the soil is actually a 1" topping of mulching compost to help hold in moisture and add mild nutrients when I :sweat_drops: water :sweat_drops:. That along with koi pond watering I shouldn’t need any other additives until flowering starts.

We call those red wigglers “bramble worms” and they’re great for compost heaps. They multiply like crazy. I’ve just topped my AK as well and used the top as a cutting, coming along fine. Loving your setup, looks brilliant

It is a nice setup. I can’t wait for it to be legal here. I saw one guys setup where he could pull a cover over his plants to force flowering outside with lower light hours… Not sure how he controlled heat. Good luck

Get some avacados cut in half and put on top of soil your worms will love you for it

Also you should start putting all your leaf trim back on top of the soil. Tear it or cut it first so it a bit smaller. The life in your soil will love you for it.

Thanks for the input Professor :man_teacher: @Warkat . Wasn’t sure if I did the fim right. Helps put my mind at ease.

This isolation thing is getting old although I’m fine with doing our part to help stop the spread. We have been advised to stay out of the stores for now so we have an Instacart grocery order being delivered Saturday with :avocado: avocados on the order. Do you change out the avocados periodically or just let them be?

So on the :leaves: leaf trim and looking at the most recent pictures do you think should I start trimming? I only grew Autos last year so never got this far before.

Although I know for a fact that recycling your leaf trim back into your soil is a sold practice, I believe you need to take into account your indoor environment.

@Skydiver has had some mystery issues kill a few plants and this could be from fungus that breaks down his mulched leaves spreading to infect his living plants and kill them.

This is just a theory and chopping up the leaves pre hand could help to keep this from happening, but I would still be cautious.

Na leave em grow for a while. I just leave the avacados skins in the soil to break down

Well when you think about nature there is nothing removed from the soil that falls off of plants. In my living soil it’s part of what keeps the soil going. My research shows that if your not growing in living soil then never put trim back on top it can kill your plants. With proper life tho its just another natural source of nutrients. The plant took those nutes from the soil lets give it back.
