Thanks you’re the best. I’ll let ya know how it turns out. I’m famalir with blackthumbbetty. She isn’t on the forum anymore?

Ok, I’ve got it dried and in jars. The stuff with the thinnest stems snapped yesterday afternoon after bending the day before. I trimmed off the stems and put the buds in jars.
As you can see they started a little under 50% RH, the RH of my air was 40% in my basement, and 42% upstairs. So I think it got a little drier than it was supposed to faster than it was supposed to because of the air conditions in winter here. I will try to think of something the next time I harvest to keep the RH at a better level in the dry area.
Does anyone have an inexpensive method to keep RH up in a tent or closet while drying if the ambient air is around 40%?
The real purpose of this post though is what do I do from here. I assumed the RH would go up overnight, and it did but not as high as I had hoped. I jarred around 3:00 -4:00 PM yesterday, and it’s 7:00 AM right now, so 13 hours in Jars.
I’ve got 1 at 60%, it was 59 an hour ago so still rising, but that has the worst buds, I wasn’t planning to smoke those, just curing for practice on this one, I will probably give it away or put in QWET. This one will probably be ok though without adding anything.
Then the ones with the better buds are at 52% and not rising, and 56% and rose from 55% an hour ago, so still moving too.
I’m going to put 4 fan leaves from a live plant in the 52% jar right now until I get advice from you guys. I was going to go buy a lemon or orange and use the peel, but I saw people suggesting fan leaves, damp paper towels and magic erasers dipped in RO water. I don’t have RO water but I do have fan leaves on hand, so for now I’ll use those. Not sure if buying bovida packs is worth the time and wait, but I’m open to those if you think they make a big difference.
I am happy to say so far the weed has improved dramatically from the Thanksgiving sample that I quick dried, so thanks for helping me mitigate this disaster.
You can find a small cheap humidifier on amazon, or you can try simply placing a bowl of water in your dry room.
I like the idea of lemon or orange peel before I’d put fan leaves in with it. IMO. The leaves will still have chlorophyll in them, and I’m not sure if that will mess with the drying buds, smell, and taste. But I never tried it…or actually heard of it. That’s just my opinion. I’ve tried the boveda packs, honestly I don’t think they helped much. I experimented around a little and actually on some of my jars it almost seemed the packs did the opposite of what they were intended to do. I got the 62% packs. I believe the goal is around 55-62RH. If your in that range I wouldnt sweat it too much, below 55 you need to bring it up. (Lemon, orange peel etc.)Over 62, open jars( burp) to let breathe. I had one at 56, I tried a boveda pack and it actually lowered the RH. Idk…I’ll try it again next harvest , that was just my first and only experience.
So you pour your mixture into the bowl you intended on refrigerating ? And then say I’m making some cookies. Would I just melt the wax (1 gram) into the butter or something?
Hang a wet towel, or a few depends on the size of the are.
No
I agree with @Covertgrower about the towels. I bought 2 small humidifiers and they didn’t really work plus I was risking the humidifier blowing directly onto leaves as the plants got so big, I only have a 4x4 tent, soI switched to hanging a few towels as well. As far as putting something into the jars, honestly, everyone has stuff they do… I tried a small slice of apple once and I think it just made my buds smell like apple LOL although it did bring the humidity up. So I used the Boveda packs and they seemed to work ok but certainly didn’t bring them up to 62% like they were supposed to but 59% seemed ok.
You should burp your jars several times a day.
Well that sucks. I thought I recently seen activity from her.
No, when Strain the alcohol to remove the plant matter, I strain it directly into a silicon baking dish. I cover that dish with cheesecloth to keep crap out and blow a fan on the baking dish. In that dish, the liquid will evaporate and then you scrape out the gooey wax and store it into a small silicon container like my earlier pic.
Once you have the wax and you’re ready to cook with it, yes, you melt it into the butter, coconut oil, chocolate, or hot liquid gelatin (for gummy bears), then mix it into the rest of your ingredients. Easy peasy!
My method for weighing it, again is very primitive LOL. I take a small piece of styrofoam or something like that. Put a toothpick in it and throw it on the scale and zero out the scale. Then I take the toothpick out and scoop up the wax onto the toothpick and put it back into the styrofoam and re-weigh it. The wax is just so gooey you’ll figure out the best way for you.
Awesome. Guess I need to find a silicon baking dish and a silicon storage dish. Sure wal mart would have…amazon for sure. Btw…those chocolate bears looked freakin awesome. My mouth waters every time I scroll past them. Is that just melted chocolate poured into gummy molds? I can’t wait to try. It’s my wknd with my girls, so I’ll be hanging with them(if and when they decide to wake up 1130 am ) this wknd. But after they leave for the week, it’s time for some everclear and experimenting.lol Thanks again you’ve been such a help. And FYI…I like your “primitive methods”. It right up my ally. Lol Bravo @Caligurl.
And again… thanks to @Nothingshocking for asking her about the qwet. It’s givin me a new project😁
I got 65 packs work good with tolerance to go low
Thanks
Ok, I got all my supplies and I’ll be trying it tomr evening. One last question. Do I need two silicon containers? You said your pour the concentrate into a silicon pan, and then after alcohol evaporates, you scrap that into a second silicon container. Once it evaporates could you not just keep it in the original silicon container? Or is it crucial to move it to a second one? I’ve got everything except the containers. Checked local Walmart’s and targets. Hard to find. Just wondering if I find one, can it be done? Or should I search for a second.? I don’t want to cut corners, so if I must need to different containers…then so be it.
@NugFlush I guess you’re right about the leaves. I read on here to use them, and it did the trick.
This morning the 2 jars I put leaves in went from 52 to 59 and 55 to 62, I misunderstood your post about chlorophyll. I don’t think it will affect the buds themselves, but the leaves breaking down do now have their own scent after sitting overnight which I don’t want in my jars. So I’m burping now, and if I need to put something in there again, I’ll use a small piece of paper towel.
So the dish you evaporate in is going to be larger like an 8x8 pan like this. And the reason it’s big is there is more surface area so it will evaporate faster.
and then yes you need to scrape it into one of those small dab containers. The reason the end product goes into a small container is so the least amount of air will be in the container and keep it fresher longer. They range any where between 2ml to 200ml (that’s huge). I have a few 26ml and one like in the pic above with several ‘compartments’. Here’s one that even comes with a scraper. Use the scraper to get it out of the original pan and also to get it out of the dab container.

Thanks so much. Very informative. One last question and I promise that’s it. Lol. When making your chocolate bears, do you just melt large chocolate bar with 1 gram wax, and then just pour into molds to cool? Or is there more to your recipe? I bought me some bear molds online, get them Tuesday. I’m so excited.lol. Also you sent a pic of 28 bears lined up. How many chocolate bars/wax did it take for that batch? Very much appreciated for all your help.
that’s it… a large chocolate bar (3.5 oz) I prefer dark chocolate. So break the bar up into pieces and melt in the microwave but leaves few of the pieces out. When it’s all melted, store in the remaining pieces (It’s called tempering) and stir in the wax (stir VERY well). Pour into the molds and put in the fridge for a few hours, then you can pop them out, put in an tupperware and back into the fridge.
Yes, there were 28 bears but my hubby stole one… it makes 28-30 as long as you’re careful not to overfill them… but if you do, just scrape the chocolate up and put it in another bear
Actually, here is Blackthumbbetty’s Cannakitchen link on the ILGM side…
And another good one:
