Can anyone tell me if they have used fox farm ocean forest 14000 and is it okay to put a spout directly in it. Should I add perlite to it to make it more airy gonna start in pint pots then transplant into 7 gallon smart pots. Have or ordered all supplies that I’ll need I believe. Except for the WW seeds and flower power
I use FF Ocean Forest all the time for my seedlings, and though I’ve never had a problem, i know some people do have trouble with nutes burn because the soil is so hot. I normally add some perlite, coco coir, and a few handfuls of hydroton clay pellets.
That’s all I use and I do add some perlite to mine. And some seedling will show some nute burn on the tips but it doesn’t hurt them…it is some good strong soil…and I’m lucky to have a store near me that sales it for $18.50 a bag vs $35 online…good luck
@raustin do you mix the clay pellets in, or place them on the bottom. Ordered the coco, clay pellets, and perlite. Do I rinse the perlite because of additives. In starting pots or when transplant
thank you @Sittingbull64 I messed up and ordered MG perlite oh well ill use it on the tomatoes and veggies…have to find straight perlite any favorites. First timer, tried in the seventies but couldn’t grow it. too much water terrible “D I R T” not soil…gonna try @raustin recipe for seedlings…i’m disabled and can’t afford any mess ups or its one and done the boss (wife) will be looking over my shoulder…any other suggestions would be appreciated medicinal marijuana is expensive here… so I’m doing calculations and if I get new soil each time including utilities my grow will cost around $210.00 each grow… need at least 4 ounces a plant to have significant savings…and to last till the next harvest??? I’m gonna try for 3 plants each grow in a 3x3x6 tent…
okay @raustin I think I might get what you are saying clay pebbles on the bottom for drainage, coco choir and perlite for aeration for roots to grow is this close at all…what do you think @Sittingbull64 this sound correct…I need a bowl…
Yes your getting the idea…so many ways and so few days! Good luck with your grow, and your bowl!
I just mix in the clay pellets, but putting them on the bottom is good too. The perlite i use is nothing special, it’s all pretty much the same, so any brand will work.i don’t rinse it either. Damn, I sound lazy!
@raustin @Sittingbull64 I was worried about the additives in the miracle grow perlite
@Sittingbull64 found a grow store in Peabody Ma right down the street from my city and he has ffof for $20 a 1.5 cu. ft. bag.
All kinds of good stuff there yee ha. it’s getting clearer know
@Royc…that’s a good buy compared to on line for sure…and that’s great to hear…
