For forever journal: I’m not a gardener. Or famous for finishing what I start

This is my first grow ever.

I’m growing:
-in secret
-autoflowers
-3 granddaddy purple plants
-3 white widow plants

I’m 58 days in (I started counting days from first leaves, when do you guys start your count???). I’m supposed to be able to harvest at 70 days according to the product page but I don’t know how exact that estimate is. I just got a microscope for my phone to try to determine when to chop them up but I haven’t used it yet.

I decided to start a journal because I finally believe that I’ll see this grow through to harvest.

Here are the girls, 3 are in the AC Infinity tent and 3 are in a closet corner with a good AC Infinity light and a random little fan I had laying around the house.

I’ve been having trouble watering my plants. The only watering can I have was inconvenient to use until last night when I had the amazing idea to add a little bit of clear hose to the spout. It makes such a huge difference! How do you guys water your plants in a small 2x4 tent? What kind of watering can do you use?

I’m in an illegal state so I have no one to talk about my grow with, my hubs is supportive but not really interested. So I’d love to make some friends.

Here are my stats for future reference

-Seed bank: ILGM

-Age of plants: 58 days as of today July 10, 2023

-3 White Widow Autos

-3 Granddaddy Purple Autos

-Soil: Miracle Gro Moisture Control Potting Mix with lots of extra perlite and a little bit of coco coir I had laying around.

-Containers: 5 gallon fabric pots filled to 4 gallons (I will fill them up all the way next time, lesson learned). 1 small plastic terracotta container (maybe the equivalent of 2-3 solo cups.

-PH: I only started measuring it 7 days ago today (day 51), I’m using a pen I got at the local hydroponics place. I keep it at 5.9-6.2, it seems like I only needed the Down solution as my home water consistently measures at a 7.2 (0.2mL fixes a gallon).

-Indoor: AC Infinity 2x4 tent is set up in upstairs spare bedroom and extra plants are in the corner of the closet in the same bedroom.

-Lighting for the tent: AC INFINITY 200W full-spectrum grow light with LM301B LEDs ///PLUS/// IONBOARD S22, FULL SPECTRUM LED GROW LIGHT 100W, SAMSUNG LM301B, 2X2 FT. COVERAGE (The light that came with the AC Infinity Grow Tent didn’t seem like enough to really cover the space that’s why I added another light).

-Current light schedule: 24 hours on

-Water every 24hrs with Flora Gro and Flora Micro and Flora Bloom

-Temps: 70F-74F day and night

-Humidity: 45-53 day and night

-Ventilation: AC Infinity Cloudline Lite 6 - Inline Fan 6”

-Fan: Cloudray S6 - Oscillating circulation clip fan 6”

Plants in the closet corner:

Lighting: IONBOARD S22, FULL SPECTRUM LED GROW LIGHT 100W, SAMSUNG LM301B, 2X2 FT. COVERAGE

-Fan: random desktop fan I had lying around, 8in, not oscillating

I’m a hydro guy, so not much to offer about your soil grow, but I’m sure you’ll be swimming in information overload in no time! Great group around here… Welcome Aboard!
Those are some nice looking buds though, so I’m guessing you’ve been lurking here for a while anyway

Everything looks good! Only thing I would say is you don’t need to run the lights 24hrs when in flower. Save yourself some $ on the electric bill and go 12/12. They like a little dark period

From what I’m seeing your doing fine me personally I would super crop that tall cola so I could lower the light but it is a little late in flower.

I think they are looking good. Do you know how old they were when they started flowering? From when the white pistils started to appear you probably have 8 weeks or so from then.

I water with a pump sprayer that has a wand. I have a camp chair set up in the tent, sit down, and water slowly

Thanks for stopping by! I’ve been totally obsessed with the forum since early April. Had to overcome some paranoia before signing up for an account LOL.

Oh man. I totally could have used that advice earlier. I didn’t know what to do. I feel like the two really tall plants I have (one in the tent and one in the closet) are really throwing off my lighting arrangements.

Do you think I should cut it now? Is it garbage if I cut it or can I use it?

It’s made me wonder if I should top my next batch to avoid one super tall branch. What do you think?

I took the smaller light off of the adjustable straps and zipped tied it as high as I could still keeping air circulation and a little distance from the tent material. I think it was burning before I gave it those 3-4 extra inches.

I laughed at the camp chair comment. I have a stool that I call “tent stool”. I like to water slowly as well and somewhere to sit certainly helps. Water, defol a few leaves, water, defol, water, defol, water, defol…repeat. Tent stool travels from tent to tent around the basement with me.

Totally agree. I searched all the grow guides for a month taking in information before I got on the forum. This is a great place because everyone loves weed!
I will tag along and watch your grow.

Looks in the pic like you could take the hangar off the light, put it over the bar, then hook it to the light again, gain a whole inch that way maybe

OK, dumb question, but… can’t you put the 2 tall plants together in the closet, and the shorter ones in the tent to help balance things out?

I looked. I can’t find any pictures where I can see when they started :upside_down_face:. Well at least I know for next time. It’s a good tip. Thank you.

Hahaha. I just sit on the floor like an animal for the tent plants. For the closet plants I break my back watering them because I’m a disorganized hoarder that only cleared the space I absolutely needed for the plants.

I am soooo jealous of people with basements! I keep browsing Zillow, wishing I could move to Colorado where is legal and where everyone has a basement.

Oh yeah. Read a couple of books. Tons of articles and guides. Everything on the forum. And easy 100 hours of YouTube at 1.5x to get through it all. On top I had to learn to turn off all kinds of things to avoid as much tracking as possible LOL. Like a crazy person.

It was the reason I looked at and offered on this house on the spot. I think I had a tent up before my bed was even delivered :).

The other bonus is the temperature is consistent year round and is a perfect heat sync and lung room. 1 SF SE7000 (730watt) | 2 SF 2000s (200watt each) | 1 SF SE3000 | (300watt) and I don’t really budge the ambient temps in the basement. Always 70 degrees.

Well glad you made it here. Lots of experienced people here willing to help out when issues come up.

You eagle eyes!

I could take off the hangar. The light has a little post in each corner but I’m afraid to put the ballast too close to the ceiling of the tent. I’ve touched it and it does get hot. Not burning hot but overtime I’m afraid to start a fire.

Not a dumb question. I germinated six seeds. There were two seeds I started in peat pots. I transferred one seedling out of the peat pot and into its final container pretty fast. The other seedling I left in the peat pot and buried it in the five gallon bag… it never grew and I tossed it outside but it wouldn’t die so I finally took pity on it and transferred it to a little pot since I don’t have any more space for another 5 gallon container. There’s a guy on YouTube that does microgrows so I figured this would be my test microgrow/solo cup grow. But the stupid plant is freaking thriving in the small container. It’s full of would be buds.

I didn’t even take a picture the day I moved it from the peat pot to the plastic terracotta planter. I’ve zero info on this one plant. I didn’t think it was going to live, it was so tiny for at least three weeks. Just tossed aside on the porch with zero care. I didn’t even bother finding a water dish, just grabbed one of the dogs’ bowls. Hahaha.

It is expensive here. A one story “starter house” with a basement will set you back 500K!

My oldest went to SoDak for a wedding with us and started looking at homes.

4 bedrooms, 2 baths, two car garage partially finished basement on 8 acres? 389K.
