Hey now! All the category topics end at harvest. How about storage? How do y’all keep those terps from volatizing off for six months, a year? Anybody use the fridge? Freezer? A jar in a dark closet just seems…, idk. Can I do better? Thanks.
I freeze my flower in Mason Jars. It needs to be a NON frost-free freezer. I’ve got flower in there I put down in 2018 and is still fresh and aromatic. If you don’t have the right freezer you can put your jars in a styrofoam cooler small enough to fit inside your freezer. This will help to keep temps down during the defrost cycle.
+1 on the freezer, vac packed first but not all out on vac cycle just enough to but a lil pressure on the buds.
I just use mason jars and add a folded piece of saran wrap on top before installing the lid. Keep in dark location
I did switch some to the leak proof cap it’s not necessary though
The weed does loose some color but they are still fresh, smoke the same as when they went in at least for me
What a great smell when I just opened it, same smell as I remember
I like my jars with the boveda packs and a little hygrometer to keep an eye on temp and humidity.
I did that at the beginning when looking for a good storage system, found it is not necessary unless you open/close them often
There’s nothing wrong with your way if that makes you comfortable
Have a great day everyone ![]()
They do maintain quite well without the extras too, I’m just a creature of habit and have the stuff lol
I was tired of buying new Hydrometers and Baveda packs
I have learned since then you can rehydrate the Boveda packs
I keep mine in grove bags a mini medical/cosmetic fridge set to 64°F . I also have broveda packs in each bag to keep the RH at 64%. All my stuff is still fresh, keeps getting better with age, and i will smoke through and give away the majority of it before it ever dries out and i will have a new harvest to put in there also! I know a pound fits in it for sure! I keep my seeds in there too!
The medical fridge heats and cools. So on hot summer days its cool in it, and vice-versa!
