New grower here. Harvested my first batch of white widow. Gave some to my brother to try out. He said it didn’t burn real good and kinda gave him more of a headache then a nice high. Any ideas why this might of happened? Anything I can do to fix the rest that I still have? I did watch my trichromes and don’t think I let them go too far as I heard that could cause headaches. Any input appreciated as I am now growing my second batch and don’t want the same results. Thanks!

Headache weed can come from a few things I think.
If you sprayed anything on the bud (pest control, etc) and didn’t do a bud wash, that could be suspect number 1.
If you trimmed the buds but left lots of sugar leaf behind, that could be suspect number 2.
If you didn’t cure it long enough, thats suspect number 3.
Lastly, pulling the plant prematurely can cause a short-duration, racy and headachy high because it may have a mix of trichomes - more clear (immature), and less of the cloudy, and amber. Thats suspect number 4.
Or, it could be a combination of any of those factors.

Still green needs dried more is my guess.
I’ve smoked many “test” buds and got headaches because i just couldn’t wait…

Thanks fellas. So no to 1 and 2. Could be 3 or 4. I was in flower for like 8 weeks, the trichromes were hard to see for me but I think I didn’t see any amber mostly clear some cloudly, if was really hard to tell even with a jeweler loop. I cut the plant and dried it to the point where the stems snapped, about 9 days, and actually I thought I over dried it because the flowers were pretty dang dry. I packed in mason jars with humidity packs trying to keep around 63. I think I need to let the trichromes go longer. Any easy way to see them? I struggled. Appreciate all the help!

That’s what mine looked like pretty much when I pulled her. Those are mostly clear right? And not ready to harvest.
So if I did pull too early is there anything I can do now to correct or is it just weak headache weed now lol? Will curing in a mason jar help at all? That was a waste of 4 months…
Correct. Not ready to harvest - probably giving these 1-2 more weeks before I re-evaluate.
Curing it should help. A longer cure is generally better. I dont know that you’ll ever gain potency but you can probably bring it to “smokeable” with a month or two of curing properly. Id suggest looking into grove bags. They’ve been a lifesaver in terms of producing a quality cure without expending the energy to keep parameters ideal.
