Im a first time indoor grower and purchased a spider farm for that came with a few 5g smart pots. Today when I checked on my plants I noticed roots growing out the bottom and now I’m like what do I do? Is this normal to leave? Will is harm my progress? Or if it even needs addressing. So I’m clueless at this point.
this is the 1st ive seen but im a beginner
You’ll need to set them on a grill or grate. Shows vigorous root development, right?
agree some kind of riser is needed to get some air under it…then the roots will self-prune when they hit the air. You will also cycle more often.
Good sign they are healthy but it also tells me the bags are sitting in runoff. Get them up in the air. You don’t have roots coming out the side of the bag.
When I used saucers to catch runoff I set the pots on these

Thanks will order now. Do you think I need to upgrade to a 7g pot ?

Ok if u have roots coming out of ur fabric pots then u probably had ur plants sitting in the run off water from ur pot now what u want to do is get another pot the next size up fill it with soil wet it down and place ur other pot on top of the pot you just filled with soil now ur roots will grow down into that soil
Great idea
I wish I would have done this the last time.
Now I am ready for next grow. ![]()
Just with ur next grow keep ur pots out of the run off water use pots rises and you wont have roots coming out the bottom of ur pots anymore
