First timer indoor, new journal: Black Widow, Bruce Banner and GDP photos (Part 2)

My pleasure @Borderryan22 … I stress a lot over my plants as it is my first grow…this forum has helped me bring that stress down a tiny bit. LOL… I glad you found this helpful…I was actually nervous about sharing it to your page since I’m such a newbie.

His issue growing in an attic here is extreme temps. In our attics we’re looking at 120°+. That’s not including the temps with lights on. To combat that you can go with a portable ac but now you’re fighting constant temp and humidity swings. The plants hate that big time.

Congrats!!!

@BobbyDigital when you say “swings”…what does that mean? 3 - 5 degrees, 5 - 20 degrees, anything that’s not constant? I’m asking because I want to learn. Thank you.

This would be more accurate. Our attic temps in this area reach 120° no problem. I’ve measured 138° in one during a heat wave some years back. At night, they’ll drop back down into the 80s. So we’re talking more like 30-35. This week, M-F, we’re set for +100° so the attic will probably hit close to 130.

Sonofabeesh I start full time this week too, oh freakin goody. Side note…

If you work outside rotate 2:1 between water and Gatorade. 2 cups water for every 1 Gatorade.

Staaaaaaaay hydrated! (and lit)

Thanks, our weather has been good this week. Only in the 70s. I struggle with high humidity vs temps and I’m an indoor grow. My humidity spikes in the middle of the night to around 60% while during the day stays between 43 - 47%. Trying to figure out a way to the the dehumidifier on a timer to go on at like 2am for a couple hours and then off and then back on a couple hours later… Testing tonight. Hubby says it will depend on the “timer” I have and electricity wise what it can handle.

Night time spikes in rh are pretty common. Some humidifiers can crank out some hot air, so be mindful of temps, if you bust it out. Don’t get yourself in a vicious loop chasing target VPD numbers. A couple hours overnight at 60%, with good airflow and ventilation, won’t hurt a thing in most cases.

@Borderryan22 thanks, not trying too hard to chase… It’s at 60% from about 2am until lights on at 9am, every night. Buds are growing and just being cautious. I have fans blowing 24/7.

Aren’t dehumidify supposed to turn off when they hit the humidity level you set them at??? Mine never turns off and I don’t have it on continuous…so not sure what’s going on with it. May need to return it and get a different one.

Day 9 for GSCE…

I keep forgetting soil is a slower grow than coco. Man is it easier already, though lol. Anywho, I added about 3/4"-1" soil to cover the stem some. Got it a little wet. Also, busted out the mini humidifier and faced it right at her. The super humid air should help keep her on the cooler side. After this week comings heat wave, I’m going to put her on the back porch and start putting her in full sun for a few hours…

Usually they do turn off when they hit the set number. I got mine secondhand thanks to @BobbyDigital years ago and it hasn’t given me issues, so I haven’t really looked at others, but I would imagine you should be able to set it to continuously run or on/off at a certain number.

Ok, that’s what I thought and that’s what the manual says, but it never shuts off… So back to Lowes it goes. Thanks!

Hot weather. Working a ton. Juggling life. You know how it goes.

Spider mites still won’t quit so I haven’t had a grow since the ilgm white truffle community run. I just want to get the
OMS pollinated, but it’s been impossible.

If I don’t succeed soon, I’ll be letting the mothers I have die. I don’t like admitting defeat though..

Aren’t they all like that lol?

It’s been a heck of a time finding a good spot here to set up. Got a new tent I gotta put together but where is the problem. I’m doing that audio grow off, so I’m gonna start in the garage, then hopefully it cools off enough in about 4wks that I can out the portable AC in the attic.

I did a garage at the beginning of this summer. It was brutal but they made it. Two Afghans. Good luck bud. We do have an all metal garage. I need to insulate it.
