I’m new to growing cannabis but do good with other plants. But I’m going into the 3rd week of flowering (I think) I was trying the natural approach but seems to be slow small growth compared to most pics I’ve seen. I’ve seen bloom boosters and several other ferts. but want to make sure which one is right. The first one I’m curious about is “Overdrive” the reason for this is it says late in bloom cycle. The second is “Big Bud” sounds more like for complete cycle…? I’m not sure?.?
This is my indica believe purple Kush but not positive. Outside the best I can do for light is ambient indirect sunlight for 5-6 am hours and direct for about the same in the afternoon’s. I have not used any other ferts except what was in the soil I used and with the recent heavy rains it’s probably got nothing left in it. Any advice or help would be appreciated.
I would avoid bloom boosters. Bloom boosters are unnecessary and I’d go as far as to call them “snake oil.” All bloom boosters are is a stronger solution of P and K that is already in the product you already use. If you want the effect of “bloom boosters,” just feed more of your nute line’s PK product. Many bloom boosters are very salty. You will be introducing less salts into your grow medium doing this and will still achieve the effect you are looking for. Adding bloom boosters may result in a mineral salt buildup that submarines root zone pH and pH becomes very difficult to manage.
All you need is a single product line (Fox Farms, Jacks 321,…) These will provide your plant with everything it need to do well.
I have not used any added fertilizers or anything at all the entire time. And when I water lately the small amount of water that goes through and into the pot tray is clear and there’s no residue in the tray after it dries (salt) between watering. I think all I have now is a pot full of nutrient bare soil with no benefit for the plant. You can laugh if you want I don’t mind…really I don’t mind…but Im learning as I go so I do better next time and I jumped the gun without getting good info first …my bad I usually don’t do that.
Welcome to the family @PapaKat420 if you have had alot of rain and it getting watered every time it does i would control the waterings let it have good wet to dry cycles
I haven’t watered myself in about a week I dump the water from tray everytime and usually only water when I feel dry soil at the first index finger knuckle. When I do water it’s just until I see it start to appear in the tray then stop and dump left over water which is only about a cup or two. I don’t think I need to flush it (?) I read a lot and seen people switching ferts at flower cycle for better yields and quality and the better I learn and do the better results I get…wish I could post my tomato plant pic it’s insane so I know ferts work I just don’t know which ones to use with cannabis.
Try to get the plant as much direct sunlight as possible. The distance between the nodes of the plant indicate that the plant isn’t getting enough light.
Don’t worry about the lower leaves. It is normal for a plant to shed them as it ages.
Only flush to correct a out of range pH. There is certainly no need to flush if you haven’t fed the plant yet. Flushing is done to remove nutrient mineral salts.
Keep in mind that it isn’t really switching. Nitrogen is extremely important, even in flower. The NPK distribution of some fert products (e.g. Jacks) is the same from veg through harvest.
Yea my first mistake started inside grew to fast but had to move outside for that reason and it’s actually doubled in foliage not height. But I got that solved either way now with a full spectrum grow light with timers now but outdoors this is the best I can do…I’m only doing this one plant at the moment.
So, number 1, you’d be way better off with a fabric pot. I like Rain Science pots, but any fabric pot is better than what you’re using now. Number 2, keep it simple. I use a dry amendment called fox farm fruit and flower 4-9-3. It’s simple to use, and provides everything your plant would need. I use it start to finish in amounts according to the package directions. And number 3, your plant is not in flower, it has many many weeks to go. May not finish outdoors before winter at the pace its going. Mines on day 18 of flowering, and looks like this. If you decide to go with the fruit and flower, do it immediately because it takes a while to break down, otherwise get the fox farm trio, and start using immediately. And give it as much sun as possible. Good luck.
This is the top most part of it this morning with several f the ends looking the same way plus more coming in other areas as well. I found a local FF retailer near me and was gonna get some Tiger Bloom tomorrow and hopefully do this end part right or the best I can. I’m just wondering if I should start full strength or around 25% and work my way up from there? There’s really no need to flush I believe it’s been in the same pot since seedling and I’ve not added any type of fertilizer to this point.
I agree that you are not as far into “flower” as you suggest. I’d say you are in perflower territory to maybe just starting (imo)
As for nutrients, you asked if you should continue just giving water with no nutrients or start adding. I’d say you should start a nutrient regimen asap*
that is if you have/can get appropriate nutrients
I will recommend what I use because of its easiness.
Jacks 321 is all you need. It’s a dry nutrient so it’s not as messy as liquid
You will want a digital scale that does grams in increments (I.e. 3.25 grams) to measure it precisely, but otherwise it’s as simple as you can hope for… mix in correct order and your plant will thank you.
If you don’t get on adding nutrients soon, I think your plant will never develop like you want, and will probably die a slow unproductive death
I got some Tiger Bloom yesterday but it started raining so I haven’t used it yet. I screwed up real bad with lighting when I started because it was indoors and that’s why I s so lanky and bare it’s only been out side for about 3weeks now and doing alot better and getting bushy. This is my first plant and honestly I’ve never raised one to this point and learning everything as I go plus getting more info to do better in my next one.

Quick question though…I use fertilizer in my fish aquarium and I know there’s some left when I do the water change. Is this fertilized water safe for my plant without knowing how much is in it and using other fertilizer?
