First time grower - Going to grow outside Starting thread_2023

Make sure you keep looking for bugs, you may need to spray before you bring indoors.

Could anyone assist in identifying what these spots are? Gnats, fungus, mold??

Now I did just put a fan for circulation to prevent new mold, due to humidity being over 60%.

So I’m wondering if I’m not on the right track. I’m a month into growing these girls, and they are still under 8-10in tall. My light is weak, and running 18/6.

Is this potentially bad in the long run, since I should already be in veg?

If you have a week light they will stretch as they are a little, you can move the light down a little to help for now, but I would look into better lights. You will need better lights for flowering. As for the plant at 4 weeks , not awful, just be patient. Don’t overwater. Keep it simple, as for the pics. Could be a bug, captain jacks seems to work well for some. Neem oil can work as well, just make sure its at lights out.

So ordered Neem oil to assist with pest etc. Light is a problem for sure so I’m waiting on light to get here. Ladies look good, but the Strawberry Cough. I’ll spray them and keep updating here for my run.

There are many things you can use for bugs. Depending on what the bug is some work better than others. Neem works ok on bugs and mildew. So neem is good to have on the shelf. I’ll be watching. :crossed_fingers: on the Strawberry Cough.

I germinated in water, started April 28 and planted on the 30th. Transplanted to 15 gallon fabric pots June 1. I started to fertilize with FF Grow big, 2tsp per gallon for each plant. I think they are ready for a little pruning, I need to review some info before. Current photo

I’m in NYC, BTW

What brand of soil are they in. If you transplanted them into 15gal pots June 1st into fresh new soil you wont need to feed them yet. Fox farms ocean forest will keep them fed for 5-6 weeks.

Anyone know if I can use Mars Hydro UV45 supplement light with a 300w Light? Just wanting to know if I need to buy more hangers, or a bigger light for next grow.

recommended wattage is 730w, which is Mars Hydro bigger lights.

@Dforce @Naturalmedsman @Nip

So good news on a couple fronts.

Strawberry cough has proved me wrong, and bounced back after a good drench on the plants. The ladies are looking nice but still streched out due to crappy light I was using.

I finally got my 4x4 tent with Mars Hydro 300w LED & Inline fan. I’m just going to take the indoor route since its getting late in the year I think my ladies would flower to early.

Ladies are looking good, but I do have some discoloring on my 2nd Skywalker OG. I haven’t got my neem oil yet to spray them down, but I had a couple questions.

  1. I transplanted into 1gal pots into 50/50 FFoF and Happy frog & Myko. Should I water same day, or should I wait a day to not stress the plants more?

  2. Would you know what the discoloring is?

Any tips with my new setup?

Looking better for sure. As for the soil, you should be good for a few weeks on nutrients. I always water around the root ball after transplant, especially if using Mykos. It needs the water to activate, just don’t over water. Water the same as if it was in the cup for a couple times, then increase as she grows. As for the leaves, it is only on the bottom, just keep on eye on them.

We’ll look at it like it’s the start of good things to come in the future, glad to see the Strawberry Cough come alive, If you want to grow outside get a early start in March or April about this time they will be big , Honesty all my Gromie Friends Helped me get where im at now , when I started growing I really didn’t know about topping, the right Fertilizer, soil etc and @Dforce will tell you he’s still learning and I don’t think it will ever stop, Weed is not the easiest plant to grow, many things can go wrong, but the reward is worth it when you hit that Fresh Bud ! I planted these Tropicana cookies and Gelato in April, I’m looking forward to finishing somewhere around September

Your girls are looking nice. Wish I could have started early spring, but now I know next year when to start during season.
I got to say so far this forum has some of all skill levels, which is nice for us beginners.
Hopefully next weeks watering I will see good growth.

One thing I learned is even these skilled seasoned Gromies are still learning through trial and error! It’s a Hobby that you never stop learning

@Nip is correct, there is always something to learn. If you think you know it all, it’s time to move on to something else. I have had some of the worst grows on the planet. I have had whole grows end up with bugs, WPM, Bud Rot, and Mold that have ended up in the :fire: pit on more than one occasion. Oh ya stolen too. You just try again with a different approach with what you have. I just finished a indoor grow for the 1st time in 4 years. 2 years of battling WPM, tried everything I could think of. Shut my room down for 2 years, remodeled, and took some advice from the owner at my local hydro shop, and this is what I ended up with. This is were I changed to all LED’s from HPS. Also did a few things from growers on the forum.:sunglasses:

So all I can say is keep on reading and asking questions. Just don’t get overwhelmed with so many styles. Pick 1 or 2 and see what fits you the best and go from there.

I’m trying to stick with 2 guys methods I found via forum & youtube “Organic”. I still will have tons of questions I will post here as you can see. I would prefer growers that are not experts, but just trying to grow some great product just like me.

I know with guys like you helping me I should progress in learning good techniques over time.

BTW your grow looks amazing!!

As always thanks gents!!

Yea I’m growing in a illegal state with high heat and humidity (LIKE REAL HIGH) No pun intended.

I just want to grow for my own medicinal purposes. Being Bipolar sucks, but I think doing this myself to find whats right for me is best possible safe way for me to get medical stuff.

i have a couple more questions if you know about grow tents.

  1. First day of veg what is ideal for temp / RH.

70-80F
70-80RH??
