First grow, 2nd attempt. Below are 2 photos of same OG Kush, day 10. I was watering with distilled water and switched to diluted nutes 4 days ago.
One photo is from 12-31-23
Second is from 1-1-24 (Happy New Year)
The plant in coco coir/Perlite (70%/30%). Humidity 75%, Temp 77F. Watered with 32ml of Diluted General hydroponics Trio (see photo below for ratios and product) LED lights measure at 300 PPFD. There is a fan running above the lights for stair circulation.
The soil is usually on the slightly dry side of damp before I water each day. PH of solution is 6.27. I can’t measure EC but conductivity is 112 milli volts.
PH of run off post watering is 6.68
I’m new to the grow game and worried about the discoloration at the center of the seedling. Not sure if it’s indicative or Phosphorus, calcium., magnesium deficiency or just normal growth progression.
Coco coir bag stated the coir was washed and buffered. I rinsed it 3x’s before I used it just to be safe. I have Cal Mag if deemed necessary to add it.
Looking for any input. I don’t want to screw this up.
I think it’s a little early to be feeding. I know the bottles say so but that’s how they sell more products. There should be enough nutrition in the soil for now. I don’t start feeding till week 3 or 4.
I shot the photo just after I watered with 32ml of solution from a syringe, I never water at the stem, I always water in increasing circles around the plant to edge.
Seedlings drink water through the moisture in the air until their roots are developed. Also, you want to place that clear cup inside of a red one so light doesn’t get to the roots causing damage to them once they do develop. She’s off and growing, looking good.
This morning I adjusted the PH down from 6.13 to 5.89 when I saw the run off PH of 6.68.
From your chart I’m in the high end but not sure I can bias that number down to 5.7 sucessfully but I’ll try. As it is I just dip the dropper into the PH solution and into the water to adjust. I find PH up weaker and more controllable. I’ll give it a shot tomorrow.
Should I adjust my water PH until my runoff is at 5.7? Or do I just target the water+nutes solution for 5.7.
My best guess is to adjust water to 4.6 so the runoff is at 5.7? Sound right?
Right now i would just mist the inside of a clear cup and place over the top to create a good humid environment. Once the leaves reach the outside of the cup, transplant into a large pot. With coco you have to keep her moist but not wet at this point. I’m not the hydro expert and hopefully one comes along here soon and helps out. I have read numerous posts covering the use of coco and this is what they all suggest.
The plants are in a tent, humidity is a constant 75%, Temp is 77F. I killed the last 3 seedlings in a humidity dome. I can adjust the humidity up to whatever you recommend.
Thanks for the tag Grow Bro. @Noob3 sounds like you’re overwatering and too often. Seedlings require very little water and never to run off at this age. I give about a shot glass every day or so in coco . The RH in the grow space is enough to go without a dome, PH of 5.8-6.2 and increase the watering around week 2 after the transplant. Are you using a PH pen or test drops
