First timer, looking for troubleshooting help!

Hey All,
Thanks in advance for any help. First time grower, and really making it up as I go. Had been going relatively smoothly until about a week ago the top half of the plants leaves started yellowing and curling, and random bottom/middle leaves would get brown spots. I’m sure I’m doing a bunch of things wrong here, but just learning as I go! I just switched it to 12/12 in hopes of changing something, but that hasn’t helped and hoping I’m not too late to turn it around. My gut says that I’m doing something wrong with nutrients/water, or it’s cold in our basement and that’s affecting things. I water once a day with nutes as I read you couldn’t overwater coco, but correct me if I’m wrong. I even tried twice a day for a bit when things started turning but that didn’t seem to help. I get some run off every time that I get rid of. I also feel like I dropped the ball on pruning, as I did some but didn’t keep up with it the way I think I was supposed to.

  1. Indoor
  2. Sadly not sure of origin of seeds
  3. Not sure in regular/feminized? This makes me really look like the new kid!
  4. Town water, balanced to 5.8-6.0 ph after adding muted
  5. 5.8-6.0 ph
  6. Grown in Coco coir
  7. 3-12-6 plant food
  8. Ts600 LED grow light.
  9. 17-18 Celsius daytime, 15-16 c nighttime
  10. 60 percent humidity until switching to flower and now have it at 45
  11. Humidifier until flower, now just the basement dehumidifier
  12. 4” exhaustvent
  13. No?
  14. This is my first time growing, if that’s not already obvious!
15.No specific budget set for growing
  15. Im not sure if coco coir is hydro growing, that’s just me being not learning it all yet!

Any help is much appreciated!!

Looks hungry to me

Wish I could help, not familiar with coco. Let me tag @AfgVet @Myfriendis410 for help.

Looks like the problem is starting at the top which, to me, would indicate Immobile nutrients.

I have no idea if this could be playing into it but your plants are cold. She would be more comfy at 24 - 25 C.

Temps are way to low.
Try to get to
24-22 Celsius day, 17-15 Celsius night

Try insulation. I’ve heard laying foam insulation boards on top of tent helps.
Do not pull outside air into tent when outside is below 10 Celsius.
Recirculate inside air until warmer weather outside.
Run lights during outside nighttime hours to help regulate tent temperature.

I would first get your environment fixed, that’s a little too cool for the girls to be happy.

What line of nutrients are you using?

DynaGrow Bloom 3-12-6. And yeah, the temps I thought definitely weren’t helping, although they’ve been low for the whole grow and this problem just presented itself recently. Either way going to fix the temp problem!

Thanks! That’s a good tip in the insulation. It’s in the basement, so also putting it near the water heater might help as well for warmer temps getting pulled in.

I would clean her up. Pick up temps a bit. Once you get her shaped up it will be easier to pick and choose main colas. Also helps airflow. New growth will be easier to see and results of adjustments will be more apparent. Just me.

I had to put a one inch thick piece of styrofoam under the tent in the basement this winter. Also draped some old blankets around the tent. Winter indoor grows are tough! Everything grows so slow. Best to you my friend.

So have u been feeding the dyna grow bloom from start?? Bloom is for flower phase and they should have a veg phase for vegging the plant. I’m gonna lean with it’s missing alot that it needed for vegging. Need to invest in some jacks 321. Super super simple. Use same start to finish it’s all u basically need bUt can add other things if wanting to. Jacks is a 3 part dry mix par a part b and Epsom salts with no dyes or perfumes. Amazon ebay ect sells 2 4 and ú lb kits I believe and also bigger bags. One 25lb bag of each part a and part b and some epsoms will prolly get u about a year to 2 in growing without buying nutes again. Cheap works great as most of us use it on here. Works really well with coco coir as the medium and also well with ffof should.

Awesome, thanks for the rec! Yeah, I’ve been using that for the whole grow, which obviously was wrong to do haha. Any advice or thoughts on how to at least try and fix this grow as best I can? I just switched over to 12/12 on the lights, so not sure if it’s too late to do a veg ratio of nutrients? Or if there’s something else I can do to at least help it as much as possible at this point.

:point_up_2: I would say their starving. A support ticket would give the community more info to go on :love_you_gesture:

This might sound stupid, but how do I fill that out? I copy/pasted questions I found to answer, but not sure if there’s a more official way to do it?

The copy and paste is the right format :love_you_gesture:

Mark nailed the issue, they’re starving. Can you get some Jacks 321? Either from their site or you can find smaller amounts sold on Amazon and eBay. You just need the a and b and pick up epsom salt anywhere.

It’s a very easy nutrient system and economical which makes it great for folks getting started.

Something like his can get you started. Basically people buy the bigger bags, 25#, and break it up and resell it.

I can definitely do that. Appreciate the help. So a dumb question - assuming it sounds like I deprived it of the nutrients needed during veg, but after switching the lights to 12/12 last week, would I be smart to still feed it what it might have needed during veg, to hopefully recover before switching to what it needs during flower? I know not the typical setup…. Just trying to make the best of it at this point! Much appreciated.

What I would personally do is switch back to veg light cycle and let them recover for a week or so with the Jacks.

The great thing about Jacks 321 is you feed the exact same thing from day one to harvest. There are several of us who have made some tweaks to it but for your first couple of grows it will serve you very well with the basic mixture.

So in your situation it makes a perfect solution to get them back in shape

You’ll also need a scale that will measure grams. Amazon has them for around $11-12
