Hey folks!
i need an advice.
My plant is 23 days from seeding ( 19 from initial leaves) and itās already show first pestles on the 3rd and 4th nodes. I am wondering is it even OK ? Plant is only 12 cm tall and
looks too weak for blooming.
A lil about flower: It can be either Auto Killer Kush or Auto Caramel Cream (mixed up on seeding, my bad) it grows in mixed conditions - about 10-12 hours ber day on balcony and 6-8 under lamp. Last week 2-3 days were realy hot, so the temp was around 31-33 daytime. Other days temp was controlled at 27-28. Humidity/air controlled.
Also i started using fertilizer (Npk proportion 2/1/1.2) last thursday in a schedule once per week, two times yet in total. Pot size is 3.5-4 litre. If it better to provide more info just leave a comment and I will!
Also 1 more question. When i can recognize itās gender?
Pistils on calyxes at the plantās nodes does not indicate flowering. It indicates that the plant is sexually mature and is capable of flowering. If it is an auto it will flower shortly. We have seen autos flower as early as 14 days. Seeing one that is sexually mature at 23 days isnāt at all uncommon. You have to take what you get with autos.
Flowering is indicated when you begin seeing pistils form at the tips of the plant. This should happen within the next week or 2 if it is an auto.
It is a female if you have pistils on calyxes at the nodes.
Your plant would benefit greatly from better lighting.
What nutrient line are you using? color and size indicate to me that sheās hungry. As mentioned, you could use better lighting as indicated by size and stretching. What soil are you using? may not need nutes if your soil is preloaded.
You are correct those are pre-flowers and to answer you question about gender,
Those preflowers are what we watch for to tell, seeing how yours have nice white pistols sticking out, it is a clear sign that this is a female plant.
Males will not have white hairs, although they do grow pre-flowers at the nodes as they mature, the males flowers look different, no white hairs and they look more like a ball sack on the end of a stem.
The actual flowering stage can come at any point once the plant is mature. Could literally be any day or a month from now, autoflowers can sometimes be unpredictable in that regard.
Once you notice groups of those white pistols forming together at the top and tips of branches and bud sites is a clear sign that a plant is or has transitioned into the blooming phase. At that point there will be no new shoots or bud sights grow, it will typically streach getting longer/taller while building flowers from that point
wellā¦ i am using universal fertilizer for regular flowers since itās kinda impossible to get something special for cana plants. My soil is also bought in flower shop. Regarding the ingredients on the package it consist of: peat, sod, river sand, agroperlite, lime and the PH is 5.5-65. i also added a lil of coco ( around 5% of all soil)
And yeah i think the thing is lights, since i was trying to start growing at very low budget i went for fluorescent lamp 45W. Was thinking that 10 hours per day of sun light will be enough and took it as support light for the night or someth.
Thanks a lot ! I was not worring about yiels since i smoking rarely and will be fine with 3-5g of dry stuff per year. I was worring about plantās health coz i already fell in love with this plant You and @MidwestGuy put me at ease ^^
I totally understand starting on a budget lol! There are several scalable options in lighting these days.
People love hlg stuff! And there is a 100watt quantum board light for about 100$us. I just got the vivosun aero lights @100 watts about 120$ each. These have a built in fan and need wifi to control them. I put up 4. Right now about to flip in a week but running them at 45% and great coverage and manageable heat! DLI running 45ish. Iāll kick it up after flower to give it a boost for a few weeks then kick it back down during the last leg to avoid foxtailing.
I was told you need just over 200watts of LED light to bring it to flower. But it has to be the right lights! You can buy one then add to it as your plant grows ā¦ having more is better as long as they dim! For me its about coverage and control.
There are a few nutrient options for canna growing. Foxfarm makes a good one, bergman(here) has a good one. There are several. Just ask around here.
