I have been trying to grow successfully for a while now. Through this site and some of the users help I discovered my lights were not enough. This first plant with the new set up is a Granndaddy Purple Autoflower from ILGM. I have replaced my old lights with SPIDER FARMER SF1000, Samsung LM301H EVO Led Grow Light. I also got a PAR meter and am using the Photone plant light calculator to position my lights. I’m keeping my lights on 18-6 and keep the room between 65 and 79 F. I’m growing in Fox Farms Ocean forest with a 3 gal bag. I am also using ILGM nutrients at 50%.
Here is a picture of her on day 9 from sprout. I plan to post more pictures with questions of how she is looking, and what I should be doing differently. If there are things that I’m not mentioning that would be helpful for a successful grow, please let me know. I feel with my other growing experiences that I am very close to getting what I’m looking for.
Day 14 after sprout. Today I moved her to her forever home in a 3 gal cloth bag with Fox Farms Ocean Forest. The problem I have encountered before is having her stretch more than I want. It is listed as a compact plant and I would like to keep her short. I hope the light meter will help me keep the right distance.
A light meter will help you but you must learn to read the plants. Meters and numbers can get you in the lane but the plant will tell you how high the light will go.
If you are stretching increase light by 10% You can do this with power or you can move light closer. Check after 2 hours for any negative effects like curling or tips burning. If none noticed check every 2 hours. If after 6 hours plant continues to stretch ( from measurements not eyeballs ) repeat until you find the spot that works.
Also if you have a spectrum setting it should be in veg- early veg.
Going to follow along as the consensus among growers here appears to be that OF on its own will burn plants. I have never run OF straight for cannabis but I put a lot of higher pH plants in OF outside to start.
Try using the Photone app to measure ppfd. A simple defuser is required which is just a plain piece of printer paper placed over the inside camera on your phone.
