First Grow Equipment List Help Please!

I would not add worm castings to this as it will give you issues with N. You will be supplementing for the entire grow and adding worm castings will make it difficult to properly supplement your plants.

Ack. It is done already! I will have to investigate adjustments :frowning:

Howsomever, the seeds JUST sprouted…peeking up above soil. That is 4.5 days. Now, is it time (the cotyledons are not quite formed yet) to remove the humidity domes? They are under light, which is adjusted to 60% and is at 30 inches. Now setting timer for 12/12 cycle…pls check my thinking here…very nervous but excited too.

Seedlings (both) peeking up above soil. That is 4 days minus 6 hours for first growth showing above mix… Now, I removed humidity domes, adjusted lights to 26 inches, set light on 12/12 timers @60% intensity (the cotyledons are not quite formed yet)…pls check my thinking here…very nervous but excited too. rH is 48% and temp is 81F. opened flaps a little for some airflow and will monitor temp and humidity after having made these changes, since things need to settle down a bit in the tent.

No messaging here unless by forum staff, sorry. Your best bet would be start a new topic and ask your questions, or to find thread that is similar to information you’re looking for. If you have a specific question for me or would like to share my opinion on something just tag me there like you did above.

My ph meter has a sponge in cap. I soak it with holding solution and place cap on. A small amount will escape showing probe covered. Works great. Killed too many myself not keeping them in solution. Also 12/12 on the photo is flowering. 18/6 for veg. Welcome to growing.

If you don’t want to drop the 100+ on a big tent fan/ventilation system can get the stripper down versions that just use a dial, ac infinity and others make them. A 4 inch is like 20-30 and a 6 inch is 25-35 depending on brand.

just doing 12/12 during seedling for one week. but many thanks for input. If I am still incorrect, please let meknow . seedling is teensy and cute tho!

Thanks so much will investigate! great tip!

I’m getting the 4” to supplement my big 6” system so the 4” will run 24/7 and the big one will kick on when the temp or RH gets too high.

Fair warning, if you use a smaller tote, which yes you could do, once in flower the plant could drink up to 2 gallons of water a day. That means daily res ph checking, nute topping off, making sure ppms are in range which may drive you smurfing insane :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:.

I can see no reason to do that, just slowing down growth. I start my seedlings on 24/0 for the first week to 10 days, keeps temps warm and constant and gives them a good start. Should do 18/6 minimum.

@Hellraiser I will make those changes you suggest. Just in time too. That is why I am here… Thank you! any thoughts on keeping light at 26 inches above and at 60% intensity?

That’s a bit more light than I give my seedlings but in the ballpark, let the seedlings be your guide at this point, stem getting a little long and stretchy then give more light or bring a little closer, if seedlings staying very short and squat then give less light to get some stretch. I usually start off my seedlings with about 50-60 watts at about 18-20 inches.

Perfect. Thank you! babies are looking great. First half-strength nutrient feed yesterday…got my NEW remote temp/hygro yesterday (the old one was giving me fits and not connecting)…71F and 67%Rh atm. pH apera meter will arrive today. Your feedback is SO helpful.

I have a new question. As advised, I ordered and received the Apera 20 pH meter today, and calibrated per instructions. I went to measure my nutrient solution and ACK it measured 8.0. I have only watered once with this solution (1/2 strength GH and yes, I let the water set out for a day), so I tested the solution I still had and it was a gob-smacking 8.0. smh. I have ordered pH up and down (also GH) from amazon, which should be here before I need to water with nutes again Any input is most welcome…I got very alarmed!

A ph of 8 is not good but they can take it for a little while before problems start. After you get the ph up/down I would give them big waterings with plenty of runoff to get that ph down to a good range, probably around 6 - 6.5 with a mix of coco and worm castings.

It is a very very good thing you strongly encouraged me to get the Apera @Hellraiser . In the nick of time. I appreciate you! Thank you again!

Learned how to test soil pH. Tested at 6.9. Water out of tap is 7.4; Water set out is 8.3 (! that will stop) and nutes water (3 days old) is 7.7.
