First grow by my self

Hello I’m new here and this will be my first attempt at a grow My sister used to grow all the time and she has all the stuff that you need for hydroponics she had she has the tent the the chemicals about everything you need for a hydro grow but she’s not around here she moved to another state so it would be something I’d be tempting to do myself so I guess what I’m asking would it be better for my first grow to do feminized seeds or do autos and if you do autos have you guys got very potent result from autos and the amounts very much thanks for any answers it may help me

I’d suggest fems. They can roll along with the learning curve, unlike autos.

I would say it would be much better to try a feminized photo first. Autos are a pain in the ass a little bit

@Frozensoul welcome to the very best forum on earth.
I agree with all the above, photos.
If your doing hydro, then if you need advice I may be able to help as I do hydro myself.

Welcome to the forum - great place to help you along the journey. I agree - feminized photo seeds are much more predictable and easier to right when something goes wrong.

Welcome and best of luck on your grow. If your doing hydro, I’d check out the journals of @Mntmannw and @StonedCold13 , they pop in mind when I see hydro. I see @Budbrother chimed in, he is our resident soil expert. @Low and @OGIncognito run coco, OG does it with Autopots, if you need help there. @kaptain3d and I grow in Promix mostly, happy to help if I can. That should give you a directory of who to ask if you need anything. Again, welcome, you’ll like it here.

They crew got ya covered on Photo Fems, they can take a beating and keep, rolling along :flexed_biceps:t2:
Autos are finicky for the most part.

I am just starting out as well. I got autos and they are quite fickle, but they give you the opertunity to learn and push you to learn quick. Fem photos are much more tame and laid back until you flip the light cycle from what I’ve heard, they give a lot more wiggle room for mistakes.

If you have the ability/opertunity you should definitely try both, but I’d listen to the people who have been growing longer than my 3 months… it’s all how fast you think you can learn the trade and how badly you want those fat stanky buds. If you have your medicine cabinet full then you can leisurely take your time with a Fem Photo, if you need something quickly then take the auto crash course and godspeed!

Happy B day @T-ray My thoughts are. if you were starting in soil. I would skip the autos. but in coco or hydro. I see no issues with autos. I learned on all autos for my first few grows. I probably tried every thing that entered my brain with them. The one thing I do remember is I was always opening the tent to look at the plants or show friends. Lights on or off doesn’t matter. I use autopots for photos. but normally try to go top feeding with autos. It is hit or miss for me as to whether they grow as big as I know they can get. Top feeding normally works best for me. Altho my biggest auto was in a autopot. Personally. I would just choose a strain, auto or photo and go with it. You will learn a lot with either. One thin for autos. They don’t seem to like fed as heavy as photos for the most part. I will tag along and watch too. :+1: :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

In my opinion, autos are great for someone who’s never grown before. They teach you fast, and you get a full grow under your belt quickly. I started with autos and definitely messed up my first run, but I learned a lot from it.

My second run is going way better, and I’ve also moved into a 2×4 with a couple of photoperiods now.

If your goal is to learn, autos are awesome. But if you get discouraged easily or don’t want to risk wasting a seed or two, fem photoperiods are the safer and more forgiving choice

IS THE YIELD FROM COCO AND SOIL A BIG DIFFERENCE? I’m just trying to see what makes Coco so special

YES, it’s that different! It’s due to the frequent feeds that coco shines on production. Promix is slightly behind but still my favorite due to its ease of use and the ability to flush numbers quickly in line, like coco without the frequent feeding if your hand watering. Only true hydro will equal or surpass coco on growth.:oncoming_fist:
