Hey everyone,
I currently have my first grow going and I am looking to get some deals on seeds because of 4/20. I have been researching autos vs fems, and am not 100% sure what to go with. The seeds I am using for my first grow were found in a bag of weed.
I have 2 2x4x5 tents, so growing space is slightly limited.
Is it better to get the autos, or should I just run with feminized seeds and keep their veg cycle short?

I believe you know where I stand, I went with the white widow auto. I plan to learn the art of nutrients and light cycles before I go photo. I preferred a resilient strain that could over come my mistakes . I read from people who drowned them or put them thru severe drought and still they survived. I then read how others nuked them way too much or starved them out and they still survived. By far it was recommended by more people than any other so I recommend starting there.

I’m thinking the ILGM sour D and gorilla glue for my first auto runs.
I’m normally an OG kush guy, but the THC isn’t too high on that one and the yields aren’t too big.
Thanks for the advice!

Yeah sour diesel has been recommended a lot recently to me, I got a code the other day to add 10 free seeds to my next order and probably will be ordering sd

So how do I got about getting one of those codes?

The hard way they shorted me on my order count.

There’s a 10 + 10 deal going on right now: I got an email last week from ILGM.
I vote for photos: you have far more control than you do with autos. You will be hating life when you get one that wants to get BIG before it flowers then gets BIGGER. You have NO room and hopefully have something better than an Amazon Blurple light because those require about 2 feet of space above plants which you don’t have.
You can veg a photo for as long as you want and you can flip them just as soon as they are sexually mature. This happens to apply to autos too: they don’t flower until sexually mature.

Although most dont recommend growing them together, I do on purpose so that I can have the auto going n I know its coming soon, sorta like a safty net allowing me to let the photo go without the urge to flip her prematurely or buy another tent n more lights…I have some patience issues though

I’ve got two amazon lights for one tent and one HLG 260xl for the other tent. Both tents have carbon filter intakes and outtakes and have humidity control inside.
The only benefit I thought the auto would provide is they can take more abuse, but the drawback is the lower thc production. I am a heavy smoker who tends to go towards high thc strains and don’t want to produce “weak” buds.
I truly am torn between the two, but want to get in on the ILGM sale today or tomorrow.

Here’s a pic of the amazon lights. The white one pulls 240w from the wall (advertised as 1000w) but also runs the fans inside. The black one is probably closer to 90w but is advertised as 300w.

You are in a good position to do a perpetual grow using the lights you currently have. Here’s what I’d do:
Grow two photoperiod strains. Sour Diesel photo, Purple Haze photo (for example). Veg in blurple tent. When large enough, cut clones from both, root in your media (10 days) and flip to flower in your other tent. You could do 20 clones in that space and manage for one good cola per plant. This way you have a harvest every 3 months to the tune of around 20 oz. In a 2 X 4 tent.
Or, you could take those same two plants and again veg under blurples and when large enough move to other tent and flower under the QB’s and plant two more seeds or take clones from flipped plants.

Your 2nd example is my exact plan. Use the QB for flower because it’s got the power. My only concern is that it takes too long to veg in the blurple tent, but there isn’t too much light anyways. If that was the case, I would get a 2nd HLG 260 and eBay the blurple lights.
But I do like your idea of the cloned sea of green.

This really lends itself to an ebb and flow tray. It’s the fastest way to produce flower in quantity: you can puke out a harvest every 3 months or so, depending on strain. This is because your clones are sexually mature so as soon as rooted you can flower off.
Right now I’m set up for soil grows, but hydro is tempting. I want to get a few grows under my belt before going down that route.
Would sticking to soil change your opinion for autos? Or stick to photos and hit the lights early?
