@JedSanders what I have found is when I top a plant they tend to be taller than when I fim a plant. I’ve noticed that when you top the 2 main colas tend to grow taller than when I fim. It will still be shorter than if you didn’t top or fim so both techniques will shorten the height of the plant.

To be honest @JedSanders whichever way you decide to go you will be happy with.
Fimming was actualy found by accident by someone who was trying to top there plant but missed. Which is where the name came from FIM = “F#ck I missed”
You could try topping one plant and fim the other to see first hand the difference between them.

Here are the latest photos 3wks from sprout. I have been contemplating topping or fimming but this is such a compact variety I believe the better course is to apply LST. I added some small weights to the 4 lower limbs and removed the large rounded leaves.
I transplanted to a 3gal pot @ 4wks pics below.

I should have transplanted once from 1qt pot to 3gal but didn’t have the 3gal and
the roots were growing from the bottom of 1qt. I won’t make that mistake again,
although it didn’t suffer much shock. I’m pleased with progress so far.Begining to

Just thought you might be interested in the first sign of flowers. if you look at the one on lower right you can see hairs on stem.

@Hogmaster @Jmesser80 Update week5 pics, blooms a little larger. I’m thinking of removing the 2 lower branches to concentrate growth on the larger ones with blooms. any advice appreciated.

Coming right along @gldeaton50.
You can certainly trim the lower branches if you prefer. I think about doing it myself but usually end up leaving them I just can’t bring myself to trim off healthy branches for fear of loosing another bud lol but I would probably wind up with bigger buds up top.
@Jmesser80 Thanks for the reply. I know what you mean but I have considered doing this earlier and wish I had then. My only concern is possible infection at wound site but that seems unlikely given the plants rigor.

I’ve read where people apply honey to the wound to help it heal. I’ve used tape before on wounds also to keep anything from getting into it.
If you use a sharp pair of scissors you would most likely be all set even if you didn’t cover it.

Well I decided to remove the 2 lower limbs And then I decided to remove Three weak inner branches that had very small buds. All I can say is don’t throw away the trimmings.Will have picks of week 6 soon.
