This is my first crop in 30 years. Took time off to raise 4 kids. 3 outta 4 talked me back into partaking since they all are cannabis enthusiasts. With the blessing of my wife, I ordered some seeds and started my garden. It’s crazy how much is available thanks to the internet. In 1986 , I ordered my seeds from a small ad in the back of High Times. Things have certainly progressed. Any hoo, my question is this, I have recently transferred my jiffy peat pellet germinated auto flower green crack and pineapple Express plants into 2 gal fabric bags. No shock that I can see, they look fine, about 10 days old 2 sets of real leaves, maybe 3 inches tall. Will I have a decent harvest in this size grow bag? I don’t want to jeopardize the crop by trying to put them in a larger bag. Next round, different approach perhaps. But will I be able to have a decent harvest?
I like to use 5 gal fabric pots for my autos in soil, and 7 gal when I’m growing in coco. You can raise beautiful autos in 2 gal pots that will yield awesome buds, but they’ll stay fairly small.
I have a run of autos going now that are on day 14. All the details are in my journal. If you want to check it out here’s a link.
Agree. 5 gallon bag minimum… welcome to the growmunity!
I’m growing green crack seeds and pineapple Express. What kind of yield can I expect on average from them growing in 2 gal bags ?
I have 2 2000 watt led lamps, with a couple extra lights (same size).on stand by incase I need them.
.
this depends Growmie. The biggest lesson I learned was how critical a great start is needed and for the first month of growth with autos . nutrients. Lighting and its environment need to be dialed in. With that said 4 zips for 2 gallon pots or if it struggles getting started a 1/4 zip
That’s a wide rangeon the yield. I think the start has been good, they all look pretty healthy, couple of deformed, hoping they straighten out. Some places,I read half fert, others say not too much, some say feed the shit outta them. I’m in Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil, the little round rocks like brick in the bottom. I mixed a little Mykos with the soil and a cup of perlite each. When I put the seedlings in the bags, they were kinda small, but the roots were busting out of the bottom of the peat pellets all over. Watering with distilled water and Budswell sparingly, they sprouted on the 30th last month. Didn’t seem to be any shock from transplant. Checking soil moisture with little combo meter. I hope that is accurate enough. Have fan and CO2 bag above
The crop.
One more thing, I’ve read to not fert the first week of veg, then half strength next week, full strength next week. After week 4, transition to bloom fert. So at this point, I should begin growth feeding. Since my soil has some organic nutrients blended in, I should be in good shape. Thanks for all your advice.
What brand and variety of soil are you using?
Just a note, those carbon dioxide bags are a waste of money. The only time it makes sense to add CO2 is if you have a sealed environment grow, with very intense lighting. For those of us who use exhaust fans to keep heat and humidity in check, there is no benefit from those bags at all. I tried a few brands of them several years ago, and also tried generating my own with fermenting jars with sugar and yeast. Again, total waste of time and money.
Well shit! At least it wasn’t too much and I only bought 1. My soil is Fox Farm Ocean Forest.
@MrPeaceman welcome to the family my friend happy growing
Ocean Forest should feed them adequately for at least a few weeks. Some additives are ok to use, but I wouldn’t give them any base nutrients until the charge from the Ocean Forest is depleted. The best way to tell is to use an EC/TDS pen to test the runoff after you water them. Ocean Forest is a fairly hot soil. If you checked runoff now it will be very high, but it will get slightly lower each time you water to runoff. When it gets down to around 1.3 EC or so, that’s when you want to considering starting a regular feeding regimen.
