Fermentation ‘lids’ for curing?

Has anyone used silicone inner lids for mason jars that are used for fermentation as a means of automatically burping’ your jars during a cure?
It seems too easy… there must be a reason it won’t work… Silicone Fermenting Lids, Waterless Airlock Fermentation Mason Jar Lids Silicone Airlock Lids, Kimchi, Pickles, and Fermented Probiotic Food, 5 Pack (Jars & Metal Rings Not Included) Amazon.com

dont do it…i know times are changing but dont do it…use methods in place tried and true , some things just cant be pioneered with silicone

Do you think they might not let enough air leave, or too much?

What about this ‘system’ ?

Read the “Grove Bag” thread. Google them and check them out! Best thing for curing since sliced bread.

I just ordered some grove bags can’t wait to try them out

Plain old Ball jar lids have worked fine for me for a few years.

So Grove Bags… do they ALL have the same type of seal? Is it like an Uber strong zip-lock type, or is it the annoying ‘grab here, pull here’ zip type that arthritic fingers HATE???

And I read on some of the descriptions there’s a heat seal (?) is this optional in ALL of them, or just some?

Considering larger bags for curing (1/4-1/2#) and then smaller (1/4-1oz) for long storing and sharing.

Are youse guys putting bud in for sweating, or waiting until you’re past that?

I’m A small potatoes, home outdoor grower, just looking to avoid mold and store MY stuff, nothing commercial.

ill be back with pics and where you can get the stuff…

Thanks. I have since gotten (2) orders… and gotten answers to my questions.

Went hybrid, jars and Grove bags, various sizes. Got hygrometers you check RH in jars while burping and bags for larger buds after it dried to 62-65%, and metered some If the bags, just to see what they did…, most at 56-58% now

sorry it took me so long to reply i had to wait til i got home. heres my system for vacuum sealing my ball mason jars. its cheap and easy and ive never had a leak.

I’ve seen this system before… so whatever RH you’re at when you seal, it remains constant? Then you open, remove a quantity, and reseal?

Coolio… might consider for my jars. But I’m gonna see how these Groves do over a year, with RH and resealing. I like the convenience and the fact they’re unbreakable, and take less space to store the same volume of product

Waaaaaaay too large scale for me! What kind of volume are you curing this way?

Imma ‘personal use and provide for pals’ level grower .

My practice has been hang full plant until dry exteriors on buds, (7-10days), then remove large branches and colas, hang in drying box (7-14days, until at RH <68%, <15% moisture), then trim and strip, and jar smaller buds.

And this year, Grove bag for the larger buds and colas… burp jars daily for 2weeks, then weekly for 2months, until they ‘smell right’, and are at 55-60% for 3 checks.

The Grove bags? I’m just watching them in amazement, as they went from 60 to 62/63, then slowly down to 58%, and just sit there. I’ve opened a few of them to check, they smell and feel GREAT!
