Federal scientists conclude there is credible evidence for certain medical uses of marijuana

Nice article. I have been following this topic closely for a while now. It’s progress, but I sure hope they finally settle on descheduling cannabis rather than reschedule to schedule 3.

My understanding is that schedule 3 would give cannabis businesses a big boost in taxes. They would be able to deduct business expenses from their tax bill like every other business. Unlike schedule 1 where they have to eat it like now. Definitely not a bad thing, but then that’s also the rub. Side note, descheduling cannabis would to this too.:point_up_2:

Big pharma, big ag (Monsanto/bayer), big tobacco, and even big retailer Amazon are creaming in their pants for this. They have all been heavily lobbying congress for this change. Especially Monsanto/bayer. Schedule 3 it is what they want. Then they can go full in and get those business expense deductions, but keep it in the feds hands. It is what has mostly kept them out of the cannabis awakening the last decade in the US. The states regulatory model.

Monsanto would push genetically modified seeds to the big ag. Big ag would grow big gm crops and flood the retail side. The average consumer would not care if their gm cannabis secreted roundup and sevin in its own cells, to kill the bugs and weeds. They would just see best value Amazon price and click order now. Amazon would ship to all the states cheaper than anyone else spreading gm weed as the standard. The feds would not be able to keep their hands out of it with the amount of lobbying by the big companies so states would loose all control. Like drinking ages vs federal highway dollar withdrawals if you do not comply. Federal regulators would crack down on seed banks using taxes from cannabis sales for “enforcement”. Brick and mortar dispensaries would not be able to compete with Amazon and would rapidly close. Then all we have is the Amazon shipped Monsanto genetically modified big ag cannabis.

I hope everyone learns how to make their own seeds, just incase. It’s a brave new world that anyone who wasn’t growing or toking before does not understand how different it was before. The current model of ignoring the federal laws, and allowing states to fill the vacuums seems like it has almost ran its course to me.

I just hope the ultimate ironic tragedy doesn’t happen, that federal rescheduling and big business lobby, strangle cannabis to a few rich and controlling spigots of flow. In a way the war on drugs never could. :point_left: There was no money in that unless you were a cop. Once imminent domain laws changed even the cops don’t care. It was much better for them when it was finders keepers on cash, and we are going to sell your house and car at auction so we can get all new swat tanks and machine guns. They don’t want to do the paperwork without the cash incentives.

Descheduling would leave it to the states. Descheduling would leave it alone like tomatoes and apples. The feds would not need to get involved if descheduled unless there was a new terrible pestilence or some kind of state tariff war from leading ag states. The free market would decide what people grow, sale price, and how many seeds I dropped. Schedule 3 seems like it drops it into the laps of the corporate overlords who would now have the full backing legally and financially of the us federal government to wipe out all their competition. Or the strongest “legal cartel” as I like to think of them and their influence in such matters.

I don’t think it’s truly legalized until I can grow a tree on my front porch street side with my big American flag blowing in the wind next to it on the forth of July.

I agree with you on those points. I would add Banking. At this point it’s a cash only business. Cannabis businesses can’t use any credit card purchases although Amazon is ok to sell all kinds of grow equipment and paraphernalia.
While dispensaries have to risk getting rob because that have to stash their cash in a safe somewhere and pay there staff and expenses with cash. While local, state and federal take their piece of the pie off the top.

Well said @noddykitty1
honestly that is the biggest fear with it becoming schedule 3. The last thing we need is genetically modified weed out there thanks to big box big pharma.

I am afraid few would care; even growers. I made a reply on the MG soil thread about the issue being ethics and not really how it grows. I went on explaining ( borderline tangent) to Monsanto and this agenda. The reply was that’s political, and who cares. STFU. It grows dank. Also, I think few know that general hydroponics sold out to Monsanto too. So GH and MG sales support Monsanto/bayer and their corporate cannabis agenda. Enjoy the dank…

THank you for the heads up on GH, and the other info.

Thank you @noddykitty1 @LateNightGardner for this educational side of cannabis most of us are unaware of. Greatly appreciate it.

@noddykitty1 do you have any good threads or articles on making one’s own seeds??? I’m curious to learn more about breeding cannabis and making seeds.

Super easy way to get a lifetime of a strain. Buy reg seeds and let a male live. Seed 1 batch up…clean tent after and have a million friggin viable seeds of that strain. All seeded bud can be “carded” for the seeds and the fliwer still smoked or concentrated. A 1 seed run and never buy a seed again. A GOOD strain that you dont mind growing as a regular.

I get an occasional male that pops up in my tent. I took him outside and let him swell a bit then trim some and froze it for later. The after trimming my ladies I’ll pick one or two to for pollenatiin in a separate tent.

Although it isn’t considered feminized it does allow you to capture the genetics of the female.
When you apply colloidal silver it would be a male part from a female and considered Feminized.

To create male pollen from a female cannabis plant using colloidal silver, you can follow these steps:

  1. Purchase or make your own colloidal silver solution.
  2. Identify a female cannabis plant that you want to use to create male pollen.
  3. Begin spraying the female plant with the colloidal silver solution once a day for two weeks. Soak the plant well and spray three times a day if possible.
  4. After two weeks, stop spraying the plant and allow it to grow normally.
  5. When the plant begins to develop sex organs, male pollen sacs will develop instead of female calyxes and pistils.

Please note that this process is not scientifically proven and may not always work. It is also important to note that colloidal silver can be harmful if ingested, so please handle it with care.

This is a weed forum, yet you make opiniated statements, @noddykitty1 about the same companies in 2 totally different threads.

Its your opinion i dont care.

Sorry, alls i did was remind you this is a forum for growing and not for political threads.
You dont want to play by the same rules that I must follow to.

Its funny, if our posts get edited, it shows, funny how your whole post is totally gone.

I remember, i only made reference to your post as politics and a rabbit hole. :hole:

So I got a "i dont care response for pointing forum policy out.

You were legit civil. Mucho respect friend. Others set the tone of STFU, back in the growing section.

This one’s in the lounge, and literally A thread about cannabis legislation. Not explaining the background politics, it would be like teaching your kids about birds and bees without saying sex.

I deleted it because you were right. It was in the wrong section. Also, no one seemed to care…

I agree, tho I don’t think I/we will ever see this amount of freedom anytime soon. Too much $$$ at stake for the feds.

Legalization in all states does nothing in the end.

The world is made up of those willing to work for what they have, and those that dont.

Its called crime, thiefs, and flat out lazy peeps.

Your outdoor grow will not out smart a crooks drone.

Porch thieves, convertor thieves, and the list grows. People steal.

Knock on wood. The only time I have been ripped was in 1990 34 years ago in Spokane Wa. I had my seedlings out front on the side yard. Planned to move them to my guerrilla spot that next day. The kid that stole them from me was also the kid I got the seeds from. I was the hook up for my school (I didn’t smoke then, but grew plants like a champ) and that kid was iced out of our school market. No one would sell to him even if he begged. That was better than kicking his arse. Saw him at my high school 20 reunion and we had a laugh. Everyone there was like, I bought my first bag of weed from you back in junior high. I reply, guilty as charged still growing. Yikes, the 30 year is almost here, starting to feel old.

So far this will be my 19th spring growing where I am now. No rippers yet. No body steals my apples cherries plums or peaches at the front walk. (Squirrels don’t count ha). My guard dog just licks everybody and besides, basset hounds don’t come across as scary at all.
Happy growing @Mosca my friend, and may the world keep on turning.

At least we can put the doorbell camera on them and send the popo after them.
On that note, we got to keep them away from the kiddos.

Don’t forget that the US isn’t the only country that grows/sells weed and seed. Europe will still have it’s seed banks, as will Canada. And It’s becoming legal in South American countries too, so I’m sure there will always be a supply of non-gm’d seeds and weed. The market will demand it (us guys), and someone will meet it.
Up here where it’s legal, lots of companies that went big into it are loosing money right and left (Canopy, Tilray, etc). Why? Taxes! The feds set an excise tax of about 32% on sales, based on $10/gram. And fixed that $3.20/gram tax on them. There is a glut on the market as everyone went in big, but without wiping out the black market, all it did was force the bm to lower prices, and so did the big retailers. I can get an oz for $100 at the gov’t store, that’s like $4/gram, yet they still have to pay that $3.20/gram in excise tax to the feds! So they are basically getting $0.80/gram for their weed!
And I can legally grow a plant on my front porch if I wanted to, but I don’t get enough light there, so I put my legal 4 in the back yard. This year I have a fence, when we bought the place it was unfenced and people COULD walk by and see them if they looked hard enough.
And then I also fill my tent and the cellar with other plants too! My over-the-limit plants!
