Favorite Curing Tools/Method

Glad you had success. I was lucky that I started again right after Grove bags came out. Did not have to deal with jars.

I had read that the actual grove bags not knockoff ones were easier as long as you put buds in at 10-12% humidity with a moisture meter. I put some in jars at 11.8% the hygrometer said that was 64%. I let the next plant go to between 10-11% and that came up between 57-59% in the jar and it’s stayed there since.
I don’t really mind the burping but I only have 3 jars the rest is in 1/2lb Grove bags. The problem I have is remembering to close the jars after lol. I’ll be taste testing in about a week that will put it at about 4 weeks curing

I used 1lbs Grove bags for my last harvest and the cure was fantastic. I’m never going back to burping jars again. The key is don’t over pack the bags and leave some head space in the bags. Store in a dark cool place for at least 4 weeks before moving to long term storage containers.
I still use half gallon mason jars with humidity packs for long term storage because l’m not sure how long the seal will last and frankly, the jars are much easier to open and store.
They were cheaper to buy directly from TerpLoc than buying from Amazon.
Happy growing.

This stuff allows me to stack A Lot of fresh wet in cardboard boxes without it touching itself… Wicks better than paper bags

Im curious as to what evere one prefers of the two, dry trim before cure, or dry trim after cure and reasons why?

I did wet trim. :person_shrugging: First time though and will probably hang longer and dry trim to rack after a few days. The branches I left for last seemed to self wick.

Personally, I do a wet trim to remove all large fan leaves right after chop, and then bud wash and hang to dry for 7ish days. Im almost at the 7 day mark with my first plant, and I have heard of people not doing a dry trim for the sugar leaves until after the buds have cured. Curious as to folks preference!

I think it depends on your conditions, those big fan leaves hold a fare amount of moisture. If your spot is really humid you should remove them if you are in a dry area leave them on. The goal is to get them to dry in roughly 7 to 10 days. You are either trying to stretch it out so it doesn’t go to fast or you try to help it get the water out in that time frame.

I’m not claiming to be an expert by any means, but that’s how I look at it.

Just a quick question from a newbie you need to wash your buds after chop?

I have not done it yet for my indoor grows, but will be for my upcoming outdoor harvest. I’m sold it is a good thing.

How long you usually let them hang before cureing?

I did a wash because of a fungus gnat infestation in my indoor grow. Google Jorge’s Cervantes bud wash on youtube and you can find a lot of videos about it. From what I’ve read it’s basically all positives. @Myfriendis410 guided me through the process. I don’t have a link to a thread but if you search bud wash in here and look for his posts you should find all the info.

I did a hang dry upside down for about 3 hours on the short end and 2 days on the long end following chop and wash. The stuff that dried hanging and untrimmed/bucked other than large fan leaves I think are drying the best. That said you’ve got to process all of it and at 2 days the trichomes were starting to get more brittle. I was attempting a wet trim and think it went ok. About a third dried in 6 days with spot on readings in Grove bags then another third yesterday and I’ve got a third that should come out today or tomorrow I think based on the moisture meter. The stuff that came out early didn’t self wick as long hanging upside down. So maybe wash which you want to do quickly after chopping, then hang dry everything 12-24 hours with sugar leaves and then trim/buck and into the drying rack. That’s what I’m going to try next time at least.

I usually wet trim right after harvest and put them on drying racks for 8 - 10 days until the moisture gets to about 13%…then I start curing.

For the upcoming bud wash, I will wash, hand for 24 hours…and then wet trim/dry 8 - 12 days / then cure for 8 weeks.
